Let someone fix the site man, or come to the discord which
is fun and let’s you embed YouTube videos right within
your editable posts!

I don't know since we are struggling with legacy code vs new
environment... for each patch or upgrade we have to adjust
things and neither Tunemx and I are willing to break an arm
to get things sorted.

I've had another concept (v3) ready for ages based on an
established CMS platform, but that would mean all old
messages would be "lost" or at least read-only... I'm not
sure if it's worth the effort as the community is slowly
decreasing although the hardcore fans obvious seems to be
strong. :-)

it's a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy as new members
can't register, and old members who've lost access to their
old accounts can't create new ones.

i personally wouldn't mind if xlt is archived. so still
readable but not active anymore. and with a link to the
discord and other platforms.

it's been a great run

id love to have access to all my embarrassing messages!
i also prefer posting here over another platform, that will
ultimately be obsolete and replaced by the next one.
eventually the herd may move to new lush fields of green.
kind of makes me feel like a dinosaur unable to adapt to a
new environment.
this is a sanctuary and will be appreciated as long as it
exists.

i like the atmosphere here; it's like a locals' pub. discord
looks exactly like slack and i look at slack all day for
work, and, well, it's okay for an IRC clone, but it's not a
message board, and it feels like the office.

there's more to it than that, though -- a microcosm like
this slowly accumulates context over the years and years. i
often dig up particular threads for particular things, and
with a new board, i can't do that anymore. people bump
threads from years ago and continue where it left off;
couldn't do that either.

if it were that or nothing, i'd certainly sign up and post,
just to stay in touch with everyone, but it would not be the
same.

i post a lot of nonsense, but some of it turns out rather
amazingly, and i started trying to extract them from xlt,
clean them up, and transfer them to weaselpedia. the main
page is a manic multi-post ramble/giggle from my bullshit
thread, cleaned up. when the board was in and out, i hastily
downloaded every page of that thread, in case it didn't come
back. so, if it must go -- yes, please, archives.

i would also deeply love for the search function to work
since google site search went to shit a few years ago; thx.

have you ever considered whether it's actually possible to
reboot a brain that's died? one thing all the "upload ur
brain" enthusiasts miss is timing/rhythm: an important
dimension of information storage... and if you switch a
brain off -- brain-death -- the timing waltz that has been
churning around in a great big delay loop becomes lost. for
this reason, i believe anyone that believes in getting their
head cryogenically frozen is a fucking idiot.

however, a forum is slightly different. it is not a living
waltz of timing like a mind; it is a static cache generated
from the interplay of many bored minds in motion around the
world, exchanging rhythms over the years. we can all meet at
a new place if the old one gets torn down but something will
still be missing
