Ah, very cool. Interesting that the old trackers could do sample slicing like that, I mean not pre-chopping them into separate hunks but selecting start points for different notes.

you get one byte to describe where the sample starts and this has kind of backfired in modern times when you casually load a 15-second drum loop and don't have enough bits to jump more than 1/3 of the way through
