VST Recommendations

Can anyone recommend any good Vst's?

I only have the Korg Monopoly one and Rob Papen's blue (I
used to love Albino synth).

Any good free ones?
Best paid ones?

Want to expand my palette a bit.

If you can afford it get Reaktor. It can do anything, just
the patches it ships with will keep you busy for years, then
there are thousands of user creations for free in the
community library. They often put it on sale for $99 USD,
like probably this spring/summer I bet, what with the covie
and all.

For free you can't do better than Surge. Great FM
and wavetable capabilities.

granulab is a piece of software for windows that does
granular synthesis
it's really old but works well

if you're on mac you might be able to emulate it somehow

+1 for granulab, i used to just fuck about and record
sessions of a half hour or so at a time, then chop it up for
samples in wavelab. you can get some good stuff out of it

Thanks for the recommendations, gents.

Im going to do the classy thing and respond to EVERYONE

EMT: looks fantastic! Always happy to see “subtractive”
as Im an adsr man through and through! Fm not so much…but
this looks great, thank you

Hit tv show Taxi actor: dollar signs make me cry! Especially
when followed by big numbers. Perhaps when im ready for
another ‘big’ purchase I will look this way. That
virtual modular setup is very enticing. I used to enjoy
stringing instruments and effects together in Jeskola Buzz.

DADONCK: think I’ll skip the Paul stretch but that other
one looks worth a further look.

Umbroman (+belb rep): I dual boot windows on my Mactop and
have a windows box, no problem! Thank you

lexicon made -- makes? -- $20k reverb units. they also made
some 00's plugins i still use, psp42 and sometimes psp84

does $20k reverb sound expensive? i remember making some
noise with loads of plugins and that single noise used half
my CPU power, but, indeed, the noise sounded very
expensive

Eventide make plugins

If paid is off the table you could check out Automatonism
which is kinda like Reaktor blocks for Pure Data.
Camomile lets you run PD patches as plugins.

and of course VCV Rack

sean from valhalla is a reverb nut, he also programs reverbs
for other companies. i dig his taste in older hardware and i
believe he does a good job
