Let's help EpicMegatrax find some artists of color to listen to!

offline wavephace from off the chain on 2019-08-24 15:10 [#02583958]
Points: 3098 Status: Lurker

I noticed that EpicMegatrax overwhelmingly posts about
white artists on here, so I thought the community could help
expand his horizons with a recommendation thread. As in all
of life, diversity is our greatest strength, and we can all
benefit by increasing the number of artists of color we
listen to.

Keep in mind that this a recommendation thread for
EpicMegatrax, so please tailor your recommendations to his
tastes!

My first recommendation is the album Amber & Topaz by
Sami Abadi. The whole album can be found on YouTube,
but here are a few selections:

Auburn
Prance
Weave

Red hair was thought to be a mark of a beastly sexual
desire and moral degeneration. A savage red-haired man is
portrayed in the fable by Grimm brothers (Der Eisenhans) as
the spirit of the forest of iron. Theophilus Presbyter
describes how the blood of a red-haired young man is
necessary to create gold from copper, in a mixture with the
ashes of a basilisk.[70]
Montague Summers, in his translation of the Malleus
Maleficarum,[71] notes that red hair and green eyes were
thought to be the sign of a witch, a werewolf or a vampire
during the Middle Ages;
Those whose hair is red, of a certain peculiar shade, are
unmistakably vampires. It is significant that in ancient
Egypt, as Manetho tells us, human sacrifices were offered at
the grave of Osiris, and the victims were red-haired men who
were burned, their ashes being scattered far and wide by
winnowing-fans. It is held by some authorities that this was
done to fertilize the fields and produce a bounteous
harvest, red-hair symbolizing the golden wealth of the corn.
But these men were called Typhonians, and were
representatives not of Osiris but of his evil rival Typhon,
whose hair was red.

In his 1895 memoir and history The Gurneys of Earlham,
Augustus John Cuthbert Hare described an incident of
harassment: "The second son, John, was born in 1750. As a
boy he had bright red hair, and it is amusingly recorded
that one day in the streets of Norwich a number of boys
followed him, pointing to his red locks and saying, "Look at
that boy; he's got a bonfire on the top of his head," and
that John Gurney was so disgusted that he went to a
barber's, had his head shaved, and went home in a wig. He
grew up, however, a remarkably attractive-looking young man

Is your avatar some sort of aaaaaa... shithead? He looks
like a person of color, or he/she/tey I didn't mean to be
"gender non binary", ha ha ha, non binary, like they're
computer scientists, we know what binary means, you know
it's, just non-that, like every other possible one you know.
Hexadecimal penta buttinal, just not binary. Protip: binary
means based on two (that's the one that it's not). Arms are
non-binary too (I mean floo, "too" sounds like "two" so it
is non binary also/floo). Actually "two" just doesn't exist,
it goes from 1 to 3. Actually "non binary" is even more
stupid because binary doesn't mean "2" it means "a number
system with only 2 symbols where each symbol leftword stores
exponentially larger numbers" or something. So "binary" can
still represent any number, just like decimal can,
1,2,3,4,5, etc. They're saying that gender is non-this
number base (which can represent any number). They
don't call it non-two, which is stupid as well, but it is
true because there are rare "super females" with xxx
chromosomes instead of xx or something and other genetic
abnormalities. It's just that everyone is stupid. All their
heads are full of fucked memes. Maybe because the universe
is transforming into hell. Not sure why you're all in this
dimension with me, you're probably all chatbots and I'm the
only one here. And the bad guys are in control and send all
the good guys to hell. Heaven has been hijacked.

he turned into a black conservative. it started (for me)
with the BLM riots, where he asked people to stop, while his
dad and brother are cops. basically the left is disappointed
with him and feels betrayed

thanks for the artists of color recommendations guys.

i'm watching the F.D Signifier video now

this interview snippet is something someone like Tony Danza (from
this board, that really is Tony Danza, btw) must
like, because it focuses on economics. i like it, too,
though, because it's also intersectional

who is really tony "tinny" fleetmouse danza? you'll know by
the stench of reaktor on his breath

and i'm confused. that black chick with the exploding hair
is on lots of stimulants and she's trying way too hard at
this youtube video thing. the black guy is more my speed

this is, however, given that i could not tolerate more than
45 seconds of her being djfkg!@ dfgjdfjkg! dfjk gjkdrtfjk!
as the guy is trying to respond and he just gets no airspace
at all. that he hasn't spoken yet and i already like him
more. and sorry i closed the window

and -- i'm actually gearing up on a mild resolution to try
and avoid youtube in general, right, let's stop here

i'm going to invent an AI to gauge how many milligrams of
adderall and/or ritalin people have ingested based on how
insanely quick their eyes dart about. then i'll be all
chuffed and run all of youtube through it; it'll churn
through and the answer will emerge: yes

and fuck off. i wanted a quantity here, not a boolean

but my AI will be sadly correct

you're totally missing it. the guy insisted he was RICHIE
BALL and i'm deeply on the fence. i think he was just, like,
the guy's nephew or some shit, or his dads was friends with
the actual richie ball. and something something guinness
book of haphazards for world's longest continuous sustained
drums, and it's like over a week. and i still think
wavephace is just some earnestly daft midwestern sort, ten
years younger than us most, and if i'm wrong, kudos.

but i did just find myself googling richie ball and i find
that obituary and it's clearly the same guy he was at least
pretending to be and it seemed worth a bump.

well played in either case

how can you play drums for a week straight without drugs?
that you could with drugs. but even the whole concept of
this guy was like... seriously? is this a joke

some of the comments on his obituary site include praise of
his dr. pepper sauce for red meat

that mum just, like, never simply listens to music. and it
annoys me. but she just compulsively puts on music in the
car. if the car is on, music. and then growing up it's
reliably the oldies station, and my brain is just, like...
motown, uptempo doo-wap, fundamentally a part of me. but
then, like... oh this is one of the best ones, and it's
dusty springfield instead of motown, and she's white, shit,
maybe i'm a racist

as posted, RIP

that i think he was just a guy having a laugh pilfering this
guy's rep. some convos i had with him on IRC about getting a
proper job and how dull it was seemed, to me, quite
realistic. that if he was making _that_ up, well, this is a
lot of freaking work. and he'd dropped the claims by this
point

but i do kind of figure they knew each other somehow, even
though i kind of doubt it's him, and, actually -- whoever
you are wavephace, sorry about the loss of your dude here,
he seemed cool

put your hand on my shouler
bayyy-bee

is this a black guy or a white guy? it sounds like a white
guy. this is like... was this actually on the goodfellas
soundtrack? i think so

and you know who can actually pick trax like no other, in a
colorblind manner? martin scorsese

that he has motown somewhere on the wolf of wall street
soundtrack (just assuming, not verified) because he has this
down so fucking cold. but then he's also dropped in cypress
hill's "insane in the membrane" which gives me a fond giggle
along with this brilliant... well, it's a fucking
crate dive, because who fucking heard of this song before
wolf of wall street? and he uses it repeatedly throughout
the movie as like a little repeated aural motif and dfgjkdfg
fucking hell can this man pick them. i think 7horse is white
people. it sounds like white people. from the south. that
play baseball or something

and if you know a guy who knows a guy, i want a mix tape out
of scorsese before he goes. because we may not have the chap
for much longer
