i thought the miley cyrus episode was a little lame, but those nine inch nails reworks are the funniest shit it is a sort of brilliance that seems almost tacky, until you squint at it. [spoiler alert] the episode starts with a version of head like a hole that is squeaky-clean, full of autotune, sounds like taylor swift. they gradually crossfade into the version at the end, without autotune. if you listen to them side-by-side, the difference in production is quite striking... but, if you just watch the episode, you wouldn't notice it. the idea of big music controlling, manipulating a big-name artist through psychological tactics, drugs is not a new plot by any means, but drugging an artist into a permanent coma, reading the music from their brainwaves, and then tidying it up to be more radio-friendly -- yeah, that's a new level |
