oh that's superb, I love the lazy cello (?) sounds, and what
is that, a syncopated bicycle tire pump?

Andy Stott has left me cold in the past, I usually don't
even check out his new stuff, but this is fetch

now that you said it, it sounds like a bicycle pump :()
never really listened to stott but this track is on repeat
the whole album is interesting. stuff i would like to hear
in a club

I first heard him back around the time I first heard Arca
and I found them both cold and morbid. This feels much
livelier. Oh has the world changed, or have I changed?

i think both :) arca is cool an stuff but gives me ear
fatigue. i think its because he was using one vst for his
whole album. izotope iris

i also had a similar experience, when i went to a M.E.S.H.
concert

Ah that makes sense, I hate the sound of Iris, it inevitably
makes less appealing sounds than the source samples you put
into it. I don't like partials dropping in and out, like bad
compression artifacts, and that's its main trick.

M.E.S.H. I kinda like, I can see how it would give you ear
fatigue especially at performance sound levels though.

i like m.e.s.h. but i think its a similar problem that i
have with arca and also stott, maybe. there is not enough
variety in the frequency spectrum, maybe because all of them
work digitally, mostly. if you look at what stott uses,
there is not much various, analog gear involved. and thats
cool, but yeah. hmmm, dunno just a guess

could also be digital alialising. i just get tired when i
listen to a whole album of arca (mutant or xen)

stotts gear

the mesh interview is interesting, I like the idea of vector
vs. raster approach to composing. lolling at his absolutely
unread looking fancypants academic books.

I don't buy the idea that hardware necessarily has a vastly
different sound than doing everything in the box especially
with the last decade of developments in zero delay filters
for virtual analog and more processing power. they could
source warmer plugs, presets and samples and treat them
differently. I think it's an aesthetic choice guys like arca
are making - they like that harsh trebly icy sound, often
with too much reverb.

oh god are we really having this discussion? let's take it
to the KVR haemorrhoid forum.

maybe they caught some lazy digitalis, maybe their ears are
more shaped like richard devines ears. but i should hang out
more often on the kvr forum and ask richard myself about the
haemorrhoids. a friends once told me, he has em. i made a
joke about haemorrhoids to a group of older bikers in the
train last summer and they seemed offended and told me that
i have haemorrhoids myself. but i don't. i have other stuff.
i took half of my setup apart. i want a tr-8s. shit its late

i'd not heard the original, but -- but, once i compared --
that's amazing. the normal speed is, like, tolerable... but,
slowed down, this is somewhere between sisters of mercy and
i, monster's neveroddoreven
