i will play anything really. isn't quake world the one that most people play now? glquake came afterwards and added support for hardware acceleration. then there was winquake, some windows port. wikipedia has some other stuff listed... but, more or less, the engine was more or less released for free, and all you needed was the content, the WADs. and those are available all over pretty much, i see no reason it couldn't run on a modern phone, too, except for the copyright issues. it may be there for sideloading; who knows for those with an actual computer -- it'll probably run good even if you're still on windows xp |

i know nquake works because i mostly played through the first episode before remembering i was actually going to try multiplayer. that seems like it works fine. i'll have to look into setting a server so with the file works 4 me. i imagine it doesn't matter if you want to use quakespasm etc just recommending this if you don't have any preferences |

ive never played multiplayer quake 1 at all. isnt there all kinds of difficult stuff with ports and servers or is it really simple? |

i was able to join and a server and diddle around without any fuss; seems pretty sorted. if we want our own server, well, sure, running that off a cable modem gets into firewall/ports, but i have a couple virtual servers and i'm going to see how difficult it is to just add my own to quakeworld list |
