a couple weeks ago, i binge-watched through westworld over the course of a couple days. i looked up some of the covers of on youtube as i watched; lovely. went on with life. dec 31st, i wake up with one of the player piano trax in my head. after i think, i realize it is . i discover: oh, heh. it's nirvana. now, i've never disliked nirvana, i just never particularly got into them. but, you know, here i am, i wake up with that scene and song stuck in my head, i punch it up, and i'm crying. it's not westworld, it's the music. so i pull up the original heart-shaped box on youtube. i've heart it so many times before, but i've never really listened. now that i'm listening i love it. i'm off for the holidays and i start researching nirvana. listening to other tracks. digesting, dissecting. digging into old nirvana interview footage, striking gold with and , video recordings meant to be used as source for printerviews. genuinely said nirvana didn't make it into muzak. on school shootings before they were a thing bonus: questioned about virtual reality cobain seems like he was chill, down-to-earth, thoughtful. grohl and novoselic are xltronic-grade nerds. seattle is off in the distance throughout that's all i got for seattle, except for having lived in rochester, ny (which is second only to seattle in the US for precipitation [except rochester it gets it in snow{sideways}]) |
