a couple weeks ago, i binge-watched through westworld over
the course of a couple days. i looked up some of the covers
of pop trax on youtube as i watched; lovely. went on
with life.

dec 31st, i wake up with one of the player piano trax in my
head. after i think, i realize it is this scene. i
discover: oh, heh. it's nirvana.

now, i've never disliked nirvana, i just never particularly
got into them. but, you know, here i am, i wake up with that
scene and song stuck in my head, i punch it up, and i'm
crying. it's not westworld, it's the music.

so i pull up the original heart-shaped box on youtube. i've
heart it so many times before, but i've never really
listened. now that i'm listening i love it. i'm off for the
holidays and i start researching nirvana. listening to other
tracks. digesting, dissecting. digging into old nirvana
interview footage, striking gold with this and
this, video recordings meant to be used as source
for printerviews.

cobain genuinely said nirvana didn't make it into
muzak.

nirvana on school shootings before they were a thing

bonus: cobain questioned about virtual reality

cobain seems like he was chill, down-to-earth, thoughtful.
grohl and novoselic are xltronic-grade nerds. seattle is off
in the distance throughout

that's all i got for seattle, except for having lived in
rochester, ny (which is second only to seattle in the US for
precipitation [except rochester it gets it in
snow{sideways}])

"nevermind" is all like ~ i had this idea for a revolution,
oh well, whatever, nevermind, let's ride the gravy train and
write a song called "smells like teen spirit" that's
purportedly about someone contemplating revolution...
except, it'll utterly incomprehensible by design, because,
fuck it, people always mishear our shit and write
over-the-top freudian interpretations off of mis-transcribed
lyrics. then let's follow that opening track up with "in
bloom" to rub it in. bet you a soggy dollar noone notices

Who fucking gives a shit. Any given night in NYC there are
literally dozens women, transfolk and people of color
playing music vastly more exciting and innovative than any
than anything Richard D. James has ever produced.

social network driven by status

afx should come play the bar around the corner from my
house. it's a mix of two-parts snoozy geriatric, one part
how-ya-doin' football fan. there is a tiny corner that bands
will squeeze into, to the peril of people at that end of the
bar. he could sit there in a corner with a laptop and
gradually take the place apart psychologically

I had a dream he played in my garden shed like a mini rave,
I don't have a garden or a shed though that was the weird
thing, perhaps it was someone elses shed
