You love him really. And that fact fascinates you.

even a stopped clocked etc
tho it is true that he does seem to have genuine
intellectual concerns, even if he's really really bad at
honest intellectual investigation
it doesn't help that most progressives are beyond terrible
at theorising gender and race and can't debate for shit

i do like contrapoints. i'm not a fan of her videos because
they're very youtuby and stuff but she seems smart and is
probably the closest any popular speaker will ever get to my
views on trans shit.

For me the truth will always be everywhere, therefore I kind
of agree with him when he criticises certain social justice
warriors. Dystopia is happening, and now how it was
anticipated. We will all be the same. Scared to be
different. Scared to laugh even.

well i mean a lot of "social justice warriors" are
fashionable idiots who will be the corporate managers of
tomorrow's world. there's not much of a paradigm shift imo,
and affectedly worrying about The Youth Today and
Intellectual Freedom is disingenuous and pandering to the
also very much fashionable "alt-right"
that doesn't mean peterson is wrong on all fronts, but a lot
of people have had the same vague insights through much
healthier ways and are not using them as a platform to
support the same old mediocre, intellectually dishonest
reactionary rhetoric

i.e. jordan peterson has not said anything that hasn't been
said better by better people than him but he is fun to mock

also it's not a dystopia, it's a fad

i'm more worried about, you know, actual fascist military
coups in europe

(also it's nice to be a communist and i wish i could believe
in revolution but the only paradigm shift i expect to
possibly see in my lifetime is one i would have a hard time
surviving ☹)

What I mean is that the thought police is here and maybe not
how Orwell interpreted it.

I’m not doubting morals, but I’m afraid for art. As for
individual personality, the thought police and medical field
will take care of that.

no worries i hate most of the left too

you sound like you're worrying about political correctness
gone mad, tho, which has been a fake issue forever and has
only ever been used to stir reactionary sentiment

that doesn't mean there's no nuance to be had (i think the
left is full of power-hungry hypocrites and proto-fascists)
but that i'm not willing to debate the issue in those terms

delineating ideological trends and legacies is useful to the
discussion of politics, sorry. personal idiosyncrasies
matter very little in the grand scheme of things (and are
often nigh insignificant even on an individual level).

certainly one in him.

Indeed and there's a strong tendency for the powers that be
to use token identity politics as a beard for oppressive
corporatocracy. So we have Justin Trudeau wearing rainbow
socks at gay pride events then with no sense of discord or
incongruity having people arrested for protesting his oil
pipeline. The nice socks didn't interfere with any financial
interests so they were OK.

It's similar to Israel's pinkwashing.

oh i think you'll like this:
the other day i was checking out what influential radical
genderqueer men-in-dresses jacob tobia and alok vaid-menon
were up to, because i hate them a lot.
turns out they were shilling for uber!

which brings me . . . .
russelllll i very much resent you saying i haven't given
this much thought. i haven't had the luxury to not have to
think about it! a lot of my social existence is dependent on
the whims of shitty misguided progressives and narcissistic
bullies with a self-serving agenda.
i still don't think they're a true menace. nothing new is
happening. it's just our society taking care of itself,
creating its new, more modern rhetoric of oppression. it's
bad, but it's not dystopia bad. it's usual shit bad. it's
"welcome to the year 2119, now we have a hundred gender and
we still have systemic rape and exploitation."

We’re obviously not noticing the same things. The “pc
gone mad” remark is of the past. I’m not talking about
right wing people upset that they can’t tell a racist joke
anymore. What I’m noticing is that certain sjw are plain
nasty people, which defeats the whole object of being for
social justice and a fair society. People are self righteous
and love to gang up, without an ounce of self judgement,
forgiveness or understanding, but by being nasty.
My comment regarding dystopia has to do with the fact that
I’m noticing that all the while fighting against
indifference and extremism people are starting to disallow
difference and are adopting extreme ways themselves.
Difference is something to be proud of, and I’m worried
that uniformity is creeping in. Also the mob mentally that
is increasingly growing makes me sick. You even get it with
reviews of films and games now. By the way you seem very
sure of yourself, which I like but it makes trying to get my
point across a little harder. I don’t think being fired
and hated by thousands because of a tweet is the way
forward. I’m far from perfect so why should I judge
everyone and feel offended every five Minutes, constantly
trying to assert my moral superiority. I need to focus on
being better than myself, not constantly position myself.
People need to look at themselves. And yeah I’m worried
for art, if everything has to be pristine and fit with the
times’ morals, then what I see as good art will start
lacking for fear of judgement and reprisal. Good artists are
like criminals, and the way we’re going good artists will
actually be seen as criminals, dangerous people trying to
infect the minds of “the clean and good”. Again close to
a dystopian feel. I dunno, obviously we’re ok now, and
I’m just ranting, but people worry me, the mass should I
say worries me. Groups worry me. Glad you have a more
positive outlook though! But yeah, don’t think I’m
trying to defend racist and homophobic humour! I’m a
humanist (probably like animals ju

But yeah, don’t think I’m trying to defend racist and
homophobic humour! I’m a humanist (probably like animals
just as much though)!

Also, this might have always been around, the mob mentality
and self righteous finger pointing, but with the internet
it’s blowing up. Especially if in the last few years.

By the way I’m definitely more inclined towards the left
than the right, and I’m certainly not a conservative
person. Racism, sexism, homophobia are all areas that need
to be eradicated, hopefully through education. Just to make
my position clear. Though increasingly I find myself
distrusting politics in general, and certainly can’t find
a party that defines me.

Anyway I look forward to you telling me with total assurance
that I’m wrong! But I’m sure we can at least agree that
fighting hate with hate seems pretty backwards and
counterproductive.

Bisou

Russelldust, you are describing something Mark Fisher wrote
about in his essay exiting the vampire castle

However 99% of crapping about SJWs is from youtube gamer
neckbeards who have been told by the likes of Jordan
Peterson that the femoids, coloureds and gays are coming to
holocaust them in the pronoun gulag, which is a reactionary
nonsense.

yes, i'm sure of myself, because i've spent a lot of time
having to deal with what you're describing.
and i don't think you're wrong, per se. i don't like
dogmatism and mob mentality any more than you do. however i
really don't think this is anything new and alarming. most
of it is cynical public relations. companies that want to
appear progressive fire the outspoken racists and
misogynists, game companies fire the outspoken feminists.
they don't want to lose clients, whatever.
it's a brand issue, and it sucks, like everything else under
capitalism.

and, yeah, what tony said, this is a very loaded debate,
which is why i'm maybe being a little less courteous than i
should.

Anyway neither of us can predict the future. I’m sorry if
you got bullied a lot but I don’t have to have been
bullied to notice how people have become online. I’m
totally flabbergasted you don’t see it, bu like I said,
I’m happy for you.
