on ebay from a french cunt whose postman is a damned thief,
and a deal fell through on an elektron digitone because of
paypal credit wouldnt fucking work

apart from that it's my nephew's 6th birthday so it should
be a happier end to the day because im going to my sister's
house later for chinese

last week i noticed it would be friday the 13th, and i've
been on the watch, this week. sure enough, yes, it did. i
escaped just in time. i've been staying with a friend of a
friend temporarily. he is going through a divorce and it is
messy and yesterday i was just getting a bad vibe, went over
to stay with a friend. sure enough, today, his divorce
explodes, he texts me to say i need to get my stuff out of
there, good thing i was watching the calendar and got myself
out of there

Started out with daughter being sick all over wife and our
bed. Then arriving at work early due to a full systems down
in work over night. Not my responsibility to fix, but
mates/colleagues had been at it all night, so happily took
over. Got it sorted, but a hectic day and no time for
sitting in my car making lo-fi hip hop on my SP-404, which
is how I had planned to spend the lunchtime.

Hi Ceri JC! (You're not Monoid on the ultimate slow-troll
are u, cos he just showed up at the same time as you)
I worked all day yesterday and had freezer bolognaise in the
night, with loads of parmesan.

Hello Steve McQueen, is Monoid my LAZY_DUPE ACCOUNT? Hope your
Parmesan was good.

EpicMegatrax, the SP-404 is still very limited (but
possible to do full tracks on). Interestingly, the SP-404
(at least in Japan; I have a Japanese market silver 'OG'
one) was sold under the Roland name. No Boss reference
anywhere on it. I tried one not long after they came out and
thought it was horribly antiquated even then, but now I like
it. I will almost certainly get an SP-303 at some point.
Nothing you couldn't do in software with the right plugins
and a midi pad controller, but nice to have in one box.

My very first computer music (23 years ago, God that makes
me feel old) was all destructive audio editing. I'd been
doing some Burial style (computer-based .wav editing in
Audacity, rather than a DAW) stuff and listening to lots of
Lo-Fi Hip-Hop and fancied making some of that sort of stuff
in hardware and the SP-404 seems to be the ubiquitous thing
and cheapish too. The destructively layering audio and
resampling it is oddly nostalgic.

I've pretty much settled on Elektrons and Eurorack for Dub
Techno and Techno, SP-404 for the off-kilter genres.
Everything else is in the box.
