hehe, there is good new stuff coming. The Waldorf STVC looks interesting and that new Behringer Neutron doesn't look bad either. Can't wait for Soundbooth in May
Right now, I'm searching for cheap rack effects with character. I've got a Quadraverb and a MAM VF-11 Vocoder. Also a Roland RSP-550 which hasn't been thrilling so far.
these are on my checkout-list: ibanez hd1500 lexicon vortex midiverb II yamaha spx 90 zoom studio 1201

hows that vocoder? could you chuck some samples of it on soundcloud or youtube? i have a boss se 50 which is similar to the rsp550, have you tried the vocoder on it?

the MAM VF-11 Vocoder is okay, u need to have a "good" carrier sound and it can take some time til you find the sweetspots.
i actually had it lying around in another apartment and found it when i was visiting. i had totally forgotten about it. i bought this thing like 15 years ago. i wouldn't buy it today, because its not worth what people sell it for these days. using it as a filterbank can be nice, though.
There are other vocoders that sound much better, but if you want a cheap, easy, a lil noisy vocoder get the zoom studio 1201. I saw VHS Head has two of them.
Haven't tried the rsp550 vocoder yet. i'm in the middle of getting my studio together and everything is lying around. an example for the MAM VF-11 would be beastie boys intergalactic. i read somewhere that they used it for the track. an example for the zoom studio 1201 is here:

when i get everything together i can post stuff. can't wait to get my little spaceship together

Ensoniq DP2 or DP4 if u can find one. Good all round effect rack and not too terribly expensive.

hey thanks! that wasn't on my radar at all. DP4 sells for around 400 Euro, though

I need to arrange a mini set up, and due to an unbeatable deal I’ll be getting a MS 20 mini, microKorg, and volca beats and sample. All by Korg you’ll have noticed; again, great deal.
Any other suggestions (staying with Korg) regarding the synths?
I could get the minilogue instead of the ms 20, but I love the look and sound of the ms 20. As for the microKorg, is there another small polyphonic synth I could see as an option?

I'd just want the MS-20, plus Expert Sleepers Silent Way or the Spektro CV Toolkit to muck with the inputs from a computey.

DP-4's are a rarity on sale so when you see one grab it and just see what it can do for you. It's technically a dual effect processor but you have a mode wherein you link the two together with several really brilliant feedbacking options, MIDI support on it is good and it has a CV input incase you have an oldy sitting around that you want to add to the mix... a DP-4 is technically two DP-2's stacked but four times the amount of entanglement options amongst the effects (afaik).
