What do you think of this?

i thought it was the nanny. i did not notice she was asian
at all. i was too busy laughing. i think there are a lot of
other subconscious nanny cues in there; nothing to do with
race. i do not care to analyze it any further; you're
welcome

you're welcome. for wat?

for not writing the full 2^11 - ??? allowable characters
full of rambly theories about what makes her so nanny-like.

here's a taste: it's so fumbly, clueless, and useless -- the
way she ducks, it doesn't help in the slightest. it makes it
all the more absurd and hilarious, really. but it seems like
she doesn't know the house, you know? mom would have kept
those kids roped and known that ducking was a fool's errand

then her clothes have some cues too. i could come up with
more if i watched the video again, i'm sure

you're welcome.

it's funny. i thought: that rolling baby wouldn't be out of
place in a horror movie. it mystifies me far more than the
"nanny" thing that now everyone else seems to be on the same
page. it's just a babby. what's so unnerving about it?
perhaps that it is at once human and mechanical. perhaps
it's just the way it... moves.

offline Hyperflake from Wirral (United Kingdom) on 2017-03-13 21:49 [#02515387]

yeah it is unnerving, its like something of that age has
sentience, the vestigial flame of self determination, its
unnatural like a dog that walks on two legs instead of 4

part baby, part mechanical. i wonder if it knows it is very
famous?

SJW are going mental in the initnets however,

initnet. haha thats kinda funny. init.!!? isnt it.(init)

isn´t it nets? is it not nets? isitnotnets?

anyway....

they say it should be the white man looking after the baby
and beast feeding it and the lady infront of the camera
instead.

for long enough
or if you a news person just make some of your own in a
comment field.

SJW are going mental in the initnets however

i'm solidly convinced the nanny thing is more or less
because she seems clueless; useless almost. like i said, i
didn't even notice what race she was!

people of the SJW sort are angry people in general, and
taking their anger out on other people is like taking the
most wonderful dump in the world. i'm quick to point out,
though, that this dumping only feels so amazing because
they've been holding onto their pain for an eight-hour car
drive and finally they can destroy someone like a rest-stop
toilet.

on the internet, there are enough of those people that
someone's always ready to take a dump. then others start to
feel the need as well, after a bit, and it trends on
twitter. becomes a self-inflicted spiral of shit where they
work themselves up into a raving froth over something they
made up in the first place -- goddamn, is there no justice
in this world? it makes me so angry! grr! we have to do
something! preferrably something obnoxious

it is a valuable lesson how your beliefs about the world
form a lens that shapes your whole experience, and how bad
wiring traps people in rest-stop bathrooms for their whole
life.

i think part of the reason humor exists is so we don't drive
ourselves insane with the seriousness of some aspects of
life. that is why i enjoy mocking these sorts from a safe,
non-poo-flingable distance

p.s. innit. if you spell it "initnets" it sounds like
"initialize" but if you spell it "innitnets" people will
immediately get your point

in all the screaming calls for "equality" i fret that people
fail to realize men and women are different; always
will be. bjork nailed it... despite being a half-pixie
capable only of fragmented english. "it's like cake vs. ice
cream." which is better, and why? can't we just say they're
both nice?

there are more women nannies than mannies. why is this a
problem? men cannot go through childbirth, and i'd argue
that a woman that has given birth is inherently more
qualified to be a nanny than a man who will never give
birth. that is men and women being different. equality is
this: even though men make worse nannies, we should pay them
same as the women

PC -- political computer -- the strange and byzantine
mechanism one constructs inside one's head in order to "not
say the wrong thing."

note how you'll get vastly different reactions depending on
your phrasing: "men make worse nannies." no one reacts.
"women make better nannies." everyone chides you to not be
sexist.

it's actually very hard to break out of. takes practice. if
i had to froth it up a level of lather, i'd phrase it,
"women are more sought after as nannies" and this finally
allows me to suggest it may just be possibly ok that there
are more women nannies than mannies.

simply saying "women make better nannies" fires off the
neurons responsible for recalling times when women were
chained to the kitchen. it's like you said, "women should
stick to being nannies."

why? people have been programmed to react this way. it is
their PC architecture.

the core motivation is understandable, but the execution is
tragic. it makes sense to try and work towards eliminating
hate and bias in the world, but it cannot be done through
policing language. kindness, mindfulness, consideration for
others are things that need to be shaped and developed over
time by the individual. trying to jam people into a robotic
system of call and response only robs them of the spiritual
growth required to actually start to make a dent in the
hate.

welcome to the machine of the manufactured meme:

Though the incident was an unplanned accident, all the
insane publicity is because the BBC deliberately packaged it
as a meme.

...
BBC host James Menendez, who was interviewing Kelly when
the kids waltzed in, admitted later that he could have cut
away from the interview but decided to keep going to see
what would happen next. He must have realized it would make
a terrific viral video.

...
Minutes after the interview was broadcast, BBC News
producer David Waddell tweeted at Kelly, "Nicely handled
interruption, Professor! Do you have any objection to me
sharing the clip of that moment on BBC News?" Kelly, who
later described himself as mortified and worried the BBC
would never contact him again, replied with confusion: "What
would that mean, please? Re-broadcasting it on BBC TV, or
just here on Twitter? Is this kinda thing that goes 'viral'
and gets weird?" The answer, as it turned out, was yes and
yes.
