thread nails its title, i have to say. i was thinking: this
sounds familiar... it's good... i've liked this before...
then my eyes refocus on the cover image, and, yes, i heard
this in... oh... 2009? i dunno. then i dam forgot about it
until this thread caused me to recompute the existence of
memory

That I had forgot about, I used to listen to that a lot. I
think earthleakage put me onto it. I remember revpersona
putting me onto something similar that was ace and not well
known. And I've forgotten.

glorious; this reminds me of my old favorite by o9:
o9 - No Delay For Days

that's from "cosmic forces of the mu", which also has the
wonderful Jega - Geometry (µ-ziq remix) (I was introduced to this track by
xlt's jAroen , I hope everyone remembers him...)

these tracks are making me think of Ovuca - Afternoon Girl

can't beat os9 at 200% cpu for stuttering, nothing sounds
the same, you can hear the process scheduler in the rhythm
:)

piano from above as rendered by some 12yo kids -- "fraps likes
to lag more then bandicam" -- leads to my proposed piece
called 4'33"1 with relevant justification and
combined with my attitude that unix is a modular, you'll see
that i'm dead serious about treating the operating system as
an active participant in the music-making process.

dBlue glitch, destroyFX buffer overflappist. aphex once
spoke of a feedback loop: programmers listen to aphex, and
code up plugins to make aphex noises, then aphex uses their
plugins...

this leads me to ask: is MacOS 9 what inspired dFX buffer
overdrive? i always figured it was the akai S100
timestretchy things, but i've never actually used an S100,
just heard about it...

...and, o9 means OS9? i was thinking about it this morning.
zero and nine? a circle and then a circle with a line
leading off (spiral?)? an emoticon? zero is the littlest,
nine is the mostest, and both cycle around each other? OS9
makes plenty sense... except, MACINTOSH is not PEE CEE.

and, obviously, i still demand serious answers w/rt buffer
overflappist. i might have to resort to googling it.

i know the sort of noise manually scraping the timestretch
knob on an Akai S100 sampler makes. presumably the sampler
is attached to an Atari ST spurting MIDI. it sounds a lot
like what dFX buffer overdrive does... but, i can't remember
both clearly enough to be sure if they're the same or merely
similar. i might have to resort to googling both.

i know the dFX guy has a website and he probably explains
this all... and, if not, he probably has an email address. i
might have to resort to googling it, but i'd rather
painstakingly braindump "what i'm on about" and impatiently
tap my foot; wait for the answer to be posted

dFX buffer overflappist is akin to a strange
alien leatherman (pocket noif). small, handy, and sculpt-y
everywhere-y. zzzrt. saw. snip. flange.
sstutututututttuuuuufffffuuuuuuuckkk. what powers that
laser-cutting... thing? is it even a laser? did the S100
have lasers? shit, who cares. it's handy

dBlue glitchFX.... hmm. it's like a box of screwdriver bits.
if you've lost your Torx T10 bit for your Craftsfucker
Socket Set, typically you'll just buy a new box of 25
assorted ones. The Torx T10 bit goes into immediate use and
the other 24 are there if you want 'em. everything this
plugin did, other plugins did... but, shit, i dropped my
bitcrusher behind the workbench, let's just go down to Home
Despot and buy an assorted set of IDM plugins

wave theory

i got an mp3 of this (and two other trax) on an IRC channel
for pirating music software around the end of 2003 because
one of the guys who made it was on the IRC channel and
chatting with everyone. i wish i remembered more because
this stuff is great

to continjue my madness about old plugins, the wave theory
guy clearly had a deep and passionate relationship with the
fruity slicer plugin that floops flam wit
