the depths of my own mind continue to unearth more things i
become constitutionally unable to post to xltronic. tonight:
hey, there's a funny little mirror going on with wMw's
tracks and my deep and complex relationship with the VST
plugin "Synful Orchestra" in 2005. so, i'm just going to
post them here as they become relevant for whatever reason.

platzengnugen is a german word i made up to describe the
specific sort of anxiety you get when it's 2006 and you're
just learning to drive, and your sock is on wrong, and you
don't know how to buy pants that fit, and it's all about to
about to go the way that will go the way all the way down to
peter molyneux. but, yes, translation is "the joy of
exploding" mangled out of fahrengnugen, "the pleasure of
driving too fast"

i will say nothing about zoot other than that it
is about satan's corgi, and it has been covered on xlt
before. one to three random postings, i'd say

from there we get off into bagel 9000, which is like taking
the anxiety of platzengnugen and trying to do a vsnares song
about a 90ft bagel on the highway that will make the
listener tense up and steer their song into the guardrail.
ideally. it's off-topic, so i'll log-offic

Those are all great, did you compose them in 2005, or is
"Synful Orchestra" some sort of automated melody maker or
something?

yes, 2005 or 2006. or thereabouts.

steinberg cubase sx -> nauseatingly dense maze of midi
tracks -> Synful Orchestra VST plugin -> orchestra noises ->
fx

i started off just using Synful for strings in my synth-y
tracks. i got more into its other sounds. i got lost in it.
completely lost up my own butt doing these bizarre kinda
celtic sorta midi sounding but then i'm using distortion and
delay and i dunno what it is anymore

...the delay fed back on the distortion (like turning left
in a minotaur maze) and i found my way out eventually. but,
yes, deep in the core, there are these rather autistic
things of 40+ midi tracks going into Synful and i was beyond
even caring about reverb

here is bagel 9000 (off-topic)
here is barn blaster 5000 (further off-topic in the same
direction)
and here is lylxe (on-topic). timestamp says Feb 6,
2006 and i am inclined to trust that.

some guy was all "you stole that arpeggiator" and i was all
"i believe you but whatever i stole it from, i didn't hear
it before i stole it"

i wasn't into self-generating structures yet

orchard ver8 2005-05-01

i sent it to dave wright (not breathing) over AIM and he was
all "rhythm is a dancer" and i was all "rhythm is a dancer"
and then he just exploded with incredulousness that how can
i not know that, i just referenced it? pretty much all of
our conversations were like this.

come to think of it, maybe it was dave who told me i stole
the arp in maybe. probably our best moment was when i ripped
off "space woman" without hearing it and dave was agog with
disbelief, go on soulseek right now, i have this folder
shared "quality garlic soaked italian disco" and i have
added to this folder but the name remains. when people tell
me to throw out my mp3s and switch to pandora, i am agog
with incredulousness

2006 will just keep flowing out if i let it. end post

dust on my faders ver4 2005-11-19

this represented the peak of the average person's attention
span that can be held by a chord progression repeating for
five minutes and as such i used it as the leader track on my
myspace throughout 2006

I like all of those. How do you make a link to something
with an ip slash mp3 like that, does that mean it's on your
"server" or something? Like you didn't even buy a domain
name so just link to the computer address directly or
whatever?

offline EpicMegatrax from Greatest Hits on 2016-10-24 05:42 [#02506090]

just been waffling on what domain name to give it. it's a
server, somewhere. perhaps it's in the free city of newark.
it doesn't really exist; it's a virtual server inside a
virtual machine designed to run lots of virtual servers, all
this is inside a hypervisor, and from there we're all in an
nsa panopticon. i draw a line, though, and say, "if the NSA
wants my autistic VST music from 2005, well, god bless."

the mission feat. mc korg wavestation presets

this is the song a guy i chatted with on AIM thought was
referencing charlie - "space woman" and when it turned out
it wasn't, it was intolerable to this other guy, or
something, and that's how i first heard italo disco: i wrote
this song in january 2005.

glass atrium (ver 4) ~ absolutely nauseating track done
entirely with the korg polysix VST plugin patch "stab saw."
my stage of doing all the things with this one thing was
mercifully much briefer for this particular thing. i was on
drugs.

glass atrium was about travelling in a willy wonka glass
elevator through an infinitely large glass atrium. i have no
excuse for this.

field ver 5b ~ what things were like with the korg
polysix VST before i got smacked out on stab saws.

i set your cat on fire ver 0 ~ back off-topic again. vector: further
off-topic than bagel 9000, not as off-topic as barn blaster
5000... but, yes, in the same direction as both of those.

halfyaynfdggg 2006-04-16. oh, hey, i've tried acid twice
now, but i haven't tried using cubase on acid. no strings.
no polysix. just, uh... buffer override and a fixation on
the way the dorm's metal girders stressed in the wind when i
went out on the balcony.

!!!M!!Y!!!!SYS!!TEM!!~~ fourth and second, respectively, and this
time we're introduced to another addiction: the novation
v-station plugin. i think the preset is "unison 3," and i
had three of them running until i lost patience. the first
1:43 was done in a spaced-out sitting and the rest was
nursed through over the next whatever days. you can hear it
shift gears rather abruptly.

the novation v-station VST is funny because it's also a real
synth -- novation k-station -- and a buddy of mine had one.
so i've spent some inception limbo time with this plugin,
and boom! here it is as a physical thing. they were unable
to tear me from it for hours. later, we recorded a pink
floyd box set called "this is awesome" and it was. there is
more to this: the gorge, the tourettes man, the climb. but
that's good for now. end post

from my system we tangent off into hardware music; off
topic. but i'll give you the flavor: LOUDEST BESTIST 100 3000 BLING-DX. there's
DTMF tones, underbody lighting on a lowrider, watching
scarface on shrooms, etc.

back on topic.

high society ~ i thought this was one of the strings ones;
it isn't really. linking because it was a track i made in a
crabby misanthropic mood in an overly-serious manner that
makes me facepalm at my 20yo self pretty hard. christ, bro,
stop smoking weed and get out more

orion 2004-11-30. sounds like 9/10 Crystal VST and
the rest is korg polysix stab saw preset. then of course
you'll be starting to know the drum kits once you've been
through a third of these

the right direction ver 4 ~ being sick of my own drum kits was a
new feeling, then, but i had the right direction out of
there: make a new drum kit from my friend's metal band. i
recorded a demo of 'em in exchange for it being sampler
food. then, of course, Synful VST is all over

offline EpicMegatrax from Greatest Hits on 2016-10-24 08:40 [#02506103]

trynglobl ~ i am clearly attempting to rip off
aegispolis or something. the drum rhythm is all wrong; i'm
wincing a bit. but then my phil spector wall of vst comes
in: oh, yes, at least i was good at stacking things. then
the horse clop drums ruin it again. then the strings are
nice. the whole thing is very mid-rangey and i didn't
understand good bass then and now it's wandered off into my
modal scale Synful VST noodling. i play these tracks back
now and i can really, really hear the computer-ness...

so, yes: bass is absent, analog synths sound nicer, i had
this rhythm-deafness thing going on, but beyond that, it's
pretty good

i never will. so there

phantom's breath ~ more or less i saw some snow or leaves
blowing in the wind and picking up all sorts of continuous
helixes; then i went back to my acrid-smelling dorm room to
do that with piano rolls.

the mission: would make good videogame music like ratchet
and clank or whatever

glass atrium: entertaining but not one of my favorites. I
have very low attention span, like 1 min would be good.

field: nice echoy notes, I never mess with "vst plugins" or
whatever to make the sound quality actually interesting/good
partly because it feels like someone else did the main
work/effort/credit and I'm just playing with that.

i set ur cat on fire: really nice glitchybeat, see otto von
schirach 8000 bc first 6 or so tracks for this taken to
extremes

halfya...: good n squaglgly yep

Hi, thanks for putting my songs in the thread title of your
songs, that's how all threads should be, you know show
proper respect! Anyway this last song (said in sparkly brony
voice) "summer of the real" is a very song indeed! I
listened to it, it started at the beginning then went all
the way to the end. That was what was promised, and it
delivered! You could say the song is divided into various
parts, like each tiny sound wave is its own song, so this is
really like 80,000 songs all rolled into one. It could be
the theme to opening up a new taco bell, or a graduation
ceremony for dog training classes, or you could even listen
to it as background love making music. It pretty much has
limitless potential in all aspects of the meme o sphere. Ok
it has ended, I would have written all these words all over
your soundcloud, because the new world order knows music is
the real language and "english" is this stupid nonsense they
purposely feed to us through bad font, so they want to turn
music into english and they're starting with soundcloud
comments.

all my old song threads formed sorting bins for the various
species of tracks i was posting. i just posted the tracks in
the bins.

i was going to post the four tracks i posted last night, but
i fell asleep before i got to it. when i awoke, i found
you'd made a song thread. i nodded; figuring this was a good
thing. i was about to bump those threads anyways, and yes,
now i don't feel bad about dozing off on the matter
anymore...

...but, i have to admit, i didn't think mohamed would get
mad, or that you'd see mohamed get mad and figure you were
supposed to get mad and thanks for listening to my song mad.

it like 2 days ago so don't remember specific thoughts. But
I had to access xltronic page 2 to bump it... which is kinda
funny looking.
