just watched the video you Posted, i think the architecture
between the ST and Amiga was alot closer that the 8 bits,
i.e c64 and speccy, i know amiga had the paula audio chip
which was great,. ST didnt get a blitter chip to do hardware
sprite stuff until STe,

ST had faster cpu just, think it might have been better for
3d games initially because of computation for 3d vectors

you might be onto something there. ill get back to progammin
in a bit...
we didnt have any arcades because the law wasnt willing to
decide between games/pinballs and the one-armed bandit style
slotmachines. so all was considered gambling even if it was
just to gain an extra life or free play.

so no access to arcades for kids in germany and they didnt
put up any games anywhere. all venues developed to be ugly
adult slotmachine dens. im always terrified by the look of
those places, remember when i went into one in my
neighbourhood as a paperboy. years of cold cigarette smoke
and ragged beer stenched carpets, sad alki figures hoping
for a win.
those places chummy or glory looking keep popping out of the
ground everywhere. and while this is considered a major
addiction, the law rather passes on restricting this one.

weirdly enough yeah i did know about the "too cloos" reverb
effect but i only noticed it when it was pointed out to me,
its very strange as the more you listen to that bit the
weirder it sounds

also weird how he says cloos rather than close but i always
liked that for some reason

yes i dont go back into arcades now, because they have
reverted back to gambling dens like you said, with loads of
slot machines and unsavory type of people hanging round.
When arcades games where really big it was great cos it was
mostly kids, its a shame the german government could
differentiate, they were a test of skill, although some
games did gobble coins very quickly and it was fairly
expensive to stay in an arcade for any extensive period of
time, yet if you went to some on holiday then you never
really missed out on the magic of the arcade era and that
something to be glad about

that reverb is the same as the squid thing uses in the next
scene. but ben burtt would have had automation, so? maybe
its a joke?

the reverb is to give the effect that all the rebels can
here the squid thing commander. admiral or whatever gicve
directions " all power on to the super star destroyer" and
so forth.

so perhaps the squid routed Landos com link to the entire
fleet so they could enjoy the too cloos moment?

Haha! i like your logic, perhaps it was added emphasis so
the audience knows just how cloos it was,

online Hyperflake from Wirral (United Kingdom) on 2016-01-18 15:00 [#02491467]

yeah lucas should have retconned it in the special editions
to be a embarrassing fleet wide communications feedback, he
might has well he buggered everything else up

offline freqy on 2016-01-18 17:33 [#02491471]

yeah even a 'squeal' whistle sound as it feedbacks in every
headset across the entire fleet.

with extra shots of the x wing fights going "aaaaaahhgg turn
it down " and getting shot and destroyed by tie fighters all
because of the feedback " too late....aaaggghh BOOOM" into
a star detroyer bridge. people dying everywhere.. lol.

but 'the too cloos' moment is classic cause it makes it all
so real, the falcon crash was 'soo' cloos that he could not
pronounce it right.

thinking about it its probably dubbed over him saying "fuck
me" or something and there is a deleted scene where he goes
in the back of the falcon to change his underpants

lol : )

there are actually some out takes of that secne. but man it
was so
unfair to release them. it was a tough day shooting. if you
havent seen them...i wouldnt. kinda upsetting to see how a
company can release such footage that can only upset the
actors.

friend of mine talked about an amazing arcade in london,
probably meant that one.
feeling glad i had these fun times abroad for many reasons.
and for the gaming and all over arcade experience it might
have been all the sweeter, just being able to play with
holiday feeling.

i didnt know that many people were home programming or also
cracking games back then. when i got my first pc at 12 i got
a binder with basic commands. and i was to read it. i did
read a few pages didnt understand anyhting and i instantly
forgot about this, not knowing what great opportunity i had
missed getting into coding. i remember being a little
startled and upset when reading because i didnt know what i
was supposed to read it for. i knew my way around dos
quickly though and eventually got into writing batch files
to create different startups for memory allocation.

some years later with 14 i saw the first amiga at a mates
home and a lot later i heard that he was copying code from a
magazine to recreate a game at some point.

also very glad about the casting choice of billy dee
williams :)

forums.

imagine what the kids of today will doing in 10-15 years
time. already so many yojng kids are doing incredible
stuff.

also...I was hoping Billy Dee Williams would be in the new
film. maybe the next?

peace.

your games is awesome ijonspeches,

you thrashed our high scores though.

however, i will one day get a low latency pc and keyboard,
monitor and i shall once again be no.1.

lol

it is alll about latency issues. nothing to do with my

have you a link to your game still?

wow computer club,
never seen this a s a kid but its reputation lives on.
the first example how a computer would sort weights gives a
good understanding how a computer program works...

there you go frequee
if you keep resting a finger each at up and down key,
you can cut your latency in half btw!!
