Best way to thank Richard

It's simple. Richard D James is the King of Electronic
Music. There have been many groups such as the Prodigy,
Orbital, and so on. Nobody can compete with the Aphex Twin
for the huge amount of brilliant albums, EPs, tracks, etc in
electronic music. His influence is almost unparalleled in
electronic music. There's a lot of brilliant electronic
music out there but something about Aphex stands out. And
there's a question of how to thank Richard D James for
making all these great trax available to us. And there's
been this totally cruddy genre name called IDM that's been
tied to him for years and years. And you see that these free
new soundcloud trax have a genre name on some of them: afx
So from now on, let's change the fookin' genre name from idm
to afx. AFX what a brilliant genre! The best genre ever.
Electronic music that's influenced by the Aphex Twin. That
would be the ultimate way to thank Richard D James for the
caustic window album, syro, the piano trax, and the new
soundcloud free trax. Thanks Richard, from the fans!

My name is Andrei Thompson from Portland. Thank you Richard.
Hope other fans will pick up the AFX name for their genre on
their musics.

Well he wanted to call it Braindance so why not call it
that?

Actually I don't mind the IDM label, no one actually takes
it seriously so it's obviously tongue-in-cheek

But on forum.watmm.com they have come up with the idea to
say AFX instead of IDM

the best way to thank him, i think, is if 50+ members from
xltronic turn up unannounced at his rural scotland home and
fist pump while shouting "APHEX APHEX APHEX"

thanks for letting your fans wait for over ten years for one
album and now come up with way to many songs at once so we
cannot listen/ hear your songs properly and..also thanks for
ruining 2015 music wise..how can I now find the time to
listen to any other album???...thanks for fucking with your
fans and colleagues who are releasing their music atm and
don't get any attention because everybody is busy
downloading your songs at soundcloud. Also thanks for you
non-communication about the why you're doing this/ or even
worse: if you're really doing this yourself.

Thanks for sorting all your old trax out, it must feel
liberating, like you can move onto new projects. Thanks for
sharing said trax with your fanbase for free! This recent Sc
dump has caused me to purchase all the eps missing from my
collection, in a way that's my show of support.

There's a lot of negative vibes out there. It's time for
positivity with full energy. There's a lot of guys that need
pussy. In that case www.sosuave.com has the answers. Don't
be ashamed, lots of guys can't get laid.

Back on topic, thanks Richard. You are the KING.

negativity spreads a lot more easily than positivity. thus,
if you're serious, i'd also preach that a conscious effort
to avoid spreading negativity is as important as urging
positivity in others -- and should probably even be assigned
a greater proportion of your mental effort.

that's sweet and touching. but I agree that Richard doesn't
seem that kind of a sorry person who does sth to be
appreciated by a group of followers on a sorry site like
WATMM.

next step I imagine will be a 5 cd compilation of
thank-you-Rich IDM crap from all the respected and
well-known WATMM IDM artists - to help them promote their
IDM output in the internet world. and Joyrex will cash on
it. that's how those beautiful ideas end up. but I might be
wrong.

"what kind of music do you listen to ?" "I listen to AFX"
"Ah, Aphex Twin ?" "No, no, AFX - the genre !!" "What's AFX
?" "Well, that's IDM but you should call it AFX now" "What's
IDM then ?" "That's music similar to AFX music - like
Autechre, Plaid, Boards Of Canada..." "Are you retarded ?
Those bands don't even sound any similar to one another.
That name is like an insult to them" "Whatever....so will
you buy my AFX cd or not ?" "Ah, Aphex Twin ?" "No, no, AFX
- the genre !! I ALREADY TOLD YOU!!!"

ok, I need some air. bbl

WATMM has already started filtering out IDM and replacing it
with AFX on all the old posts. So I think that WATMM has the
right idea. How do you know what Aphex Twin wants. I think
it's really presumptive of you to think that you know that
Aphex Twin won't appreciate the gesture. And if some people
release music in the AFX genre then that is the best
compliment anyone could ever give to him. So again I will
say to you: Thank you Richard. You have made the best music.
Thanks again, friend. From your fans.

PS remember, the mp3s themselves have the AFX genre tagged
inside. So I believe that Richard *does* agree. Anyway you
have the right to your opinion. I have the right to my
opinion too.

Confield was 100% AFX
Go Plastic 99.9% AFX

AFX is the genre of peace.

just because aphex released every little minor musical

is a really dumb idea.

sure, we're both right

but I have a better name: Lush Dance Music = ldm OR LDM if
that graphical joke would not be noticed out there at WATMM.

and you read it first here, at xltronic.com

if Rich notices this post and starts tagging his SC tracks
as ldm or LDM: WATMM=LOSE and XLT=WIN.
