Any xlters have a link of the rips that went up on the
official Aphex soundcloud back in November? They've all been
removed.

this guy is uploading around the same time,
has aphex twin and user48736353001 following.

may not be legit, but its a 24 track lp with an inhaler as
the cover.
sounds harsh like ventolin.

also the username: user8a7s6t7h8m8a9c8i6d = asthacid

Should use the soundcloud downloader extension for chrome,
it just adds the normal download tab to all soundcloud
tracks.

got some of those, pomme,
just wrote you
or write me!

btw, all soundcloud tunes erased and just that message now:

"
lol, not aphex

he was here but he moved to a different username, thereby
freeing this one up to be claimed by someone else.

he's still on soundcloud somewhere though, consult watmm for
latest info

big up to the watmm!

ps: its heat not light
"

so, if anyone managed to record the tunes before being
erased, let me know ;)

We're now at 4 hours and 22 minutes of previously unreleased
Aphex. It's hard to take it all in.

I'm holding out for an extended version of pigeon street or
a remix of some sort. I've always loved that track.

I'll upload proper when this holy grail runs dry.

I chose 'user48736353001 Collection' for an album title,
it's under Aphex Twin, yeah lot's of this is AFX but eh,
I'd rather have all my tracks in 1 folder on my mp3 player.

Yeah, unfortunately the only way to rip when you can't
download it is anything2mp3. This is currently the best we
can get. I'm on slsk (SELain), lots of ppl grabbin' atm.

I recorded them into my ableton live via jack.
So they are at least whatever quality is on the page.
I just have to cut them up and tag them so it might be
awhile before I get to it.

In Google Chrome: Go to whatever page has the track(s) you
want, then Right click; Inspect element.

This opens developer console stuff. Look for the "Network"
tab. Clicking on that will give you some details with a
graphical view of your network traffic. You want to click
on play after having this "Network" view opened.

Once you click play, the track will stream and be in this
list of traffic, and you can then easily spot the mp3 stream
as a long bar in the graphical view. Go left on that same
item line (its "Type" column should say "audio/mpeg"), and
right click: open link in new tab. You should get a page
with nothing but the bare mp3 playing. You can then just
ctrl-s this which should save directly as an mp3.

And yep, that's 128 kbps.

the last (final?) tracks uploaded with numbers in front of
the titles[16 Bpjdrop Forge [pump up the jam mix] up to
track [(14) 07 B]
make a wonderful ~74 min. cd
just guessing,
but they would fit nicely together as a release.
overall the amount just about matches a neat 4cd boxset...

if this was to come, it was the sweetest way of letting us
know as we all enjoy the excitement of discovering :)

its nice to remember that special feel of afx through his
diferent eras and sounds, but most of those tunes are
unfinished and not very impressive to me. ill probably make
an album of the ones i like and call it 'selected unselected
reselected afx tracks' or something

offline ijonspeches from 109P/Swift-Tuttle on 2015-01-28 12:01 [#02483185]
Points: 7838 Status: Regular | Show recordbag

i am impressed and like them a lot already.
of course some of them are just up par
and some sound a bit unfinished aswell,
but they have virtue.
on first listen i have as many,
if not more instant favourites,
as with any other release, when it came out.

but theres another thing to the structure of the tracks,
that makes me love em:
take an "unfinished" track or a track that didnt make it a
release from the older era and compare it to newer releases.
the old style which i find rather rhythmic and a bit simpler
in terms of melody, gets me a bit easier into a mood. they
often have this way to get me into a trance and enjoy the
subtle changes in percussion and background pads/melodies
together with the unique sounds of that era.
cant ever get enough of that :)

express his relief that the site didn't disappear as
threatened by Phobxion

Great to hear that Peel Session track in better quality, the
version I have sounds like the tape gets chewed up, which
sure, has its charm, but I prefer to ... hear it "properly"

Early Morning Clissold is gorgeous. I might have to set that
as my alarm call.

Definitely in the sad it wasn't released group. Interesting
to think how many of these could have been classics now,
related to so many memories of its time.

Dance and Play....How could this have been archived? Its so
gorgeous! This takes me back to the wonder and tension that
I felt when I was first getting into electronic music all
those years ago.

I agree with this, I feel a bit giddy with these, especially
the SAW 85-92 era tracks. I invested so much listening and
memory into that album, and now that there's so much more of
it. When bands announce they're releasing "early demos"
there's very rarely any value but for the most hardened
completist. But these, fully formed .... jewels, as well as
the tracks that sound like the roots of two, three or four
other tracks, and the amount of them.... it is very
emotional
.

It's odd, as noted elsewhere, to feel that "discovering
Aphex" feeling so many years on. I imagine myself back at
Uni listening to the tape of SAW a mate gave me, and adding
on these tracks. Is it healthy? Dunno.

Well said. I hadn't really thought of it in that way. It
is amazing to think that his archived items are just as
great as the stuff that made it to album. How many artists
can claim that? No wonder it was such a bitch to compile
them all...where do you even start?

offline RussellDust on 2015-01-28 17:51 [#02483205]
Points: 16053 Status: Lurker

This is all fantastic, but I don't feel like I'm discovering
Aphex. They all make sense to me.

What is amazing is that any fan can instantly pinpoint what
period a track is from. SAW 1&2, Polygon Window, Caustic
Window, ICBYD, RDJ, they're all there.

It's getting nice and dirty this evening. Amazing haul and
he's still going. Must be quite an experience for him too
after holding on to this stuff for so long, probably a few
'I knew I should've fucking released this' moments. He's
managed to completely overshadow the release of his own new
material too, at least for me

Looking back at his 80+, he's added some more
description/dates to a few, that helps me date them.

-crazone, I'm compiling them all up as I'm sure many others
are.
I'll hop back on slsk (SELain) after this godly torrent of
lushness takes another break.
