Nice, been a fan of Pro tracker from many years ago. It's
amazing what some people have created with it considering
it's limitations. Lots of stuff on the Bloody Fist label
have been written with it.

yeah i think its because of those limitations that makes it
interesting, the low rez sounds have a sound of their own,
its what i listened to before i heard of any proper
electronic music,

I recently started playing around with Jeskola Buzz, which
is a great piece of software. Great to use if you are (like
me), put off by all the tedious mucking about with
oscillators and such in Max/MSP.

tracker music is great.

on android we have "xmp module player", which is pretty
good. Has some old school graphics, can enjoy mods in
proper early 90s style.

ilkae makes music in trackers, and some of his (now not a
duo) releases on bandcamp come with module files.

[ sorry i jacked the thread, i was drunk & excited ]
im really interested in how trackers can speed up ppls
workflow but with steeper learning curve, via all the key
presses & that.

.MODs by Bogdan Raczynski ( as name Abraham ) on
modarchive.org, also loads of Screencasts of old trackers
playing old jungle tunes ( brilliant ) on youtube, etc.
etc.
i cant get enough of that shit , basically

yeah, open-source music is how i think of it. i used IT and
modplug for a while before deciding i preferred piano rolls
for everything 'cept drums.

check out this wikkid hard chap i think he's an auto mechanic

offline steve mcqueen from caerdydd (United Kingdom) on 2017-01-13 23:02 [#02510381]

sunvox will load *all* those old tracker format tunes, its
not much, u can just see the tune as it rolls past, and have
a look at the instrument samples... i was trying to get
Boooyaa .mod off AmazonII the other day to no avail.

online Hyperflake from Wirral (United Kingdom) on 2017-01-13 23:04 [#02510382]

ah, yes i was thinking about using mod samples in my music,
and some instrumentation as well, the low rez stuff deffo
has a sound to itself

online Hyperflake from Wirral (United Kingdom) on 2017-01-13 23:11 [#02510389]

yes you input hexadecimal values to set stuff like note
velocity and volume, and what effects you want on and what
strength, its actually much more efficient than doing stuff
with a sequencer but it has a higher learning curve cos its
easy to forget what values you should use for stuff
