The voice within

In case you haven’t noticed, you have a mental dialogue
going on inside your head that never stops. It just keeps
going and going. Have you ever wondered why it talks in
there? How does it decide what to say and when to say it?
How much of what it says turns out to be true? How much of
what it says is even important?

If you’re smart, you’ll take the time to step back,
examine this voice, and get to know it better.

I knew a super-religious guy who told me that god LITERALLY
spoke to him inside his head, and that he would deliberately
crash his car (with me inside it at the time) if gold told
him to

i guess that's what schizophrenia is

also, oddly enough, "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman?" has
not only bits about what ketamine does to your internal
monologue, it also has a passage in which Feynman notices
booze has begun to warp that voice and promptly quits
forever.

since childhood, i have had a tendency to have imaginary
conversations with people in my hed. it honestly used to
keep me from sleeping; my mum heard me talking to myself and
thought i was talking in my sleep. i was not asleep. the
only reason it doesn't worry me is because i have no problem
drawing a line between doodling around in my hed and actual
reality. i imagine it gets to be a real mess if you start to
jumble the two up. as long as you maintain that barrier,
it's quite practical. a dialogue with your subconscious. i
just make the voice into someone else, i think, because it
frees me from being myself just enough to give me the
sort of tough love advice i'd get from friends if i actually
had friends.

in any case, i'm sure no one cares; i'm only here out of
duty: i have to keep posting to annoy ddrummonndd

related. i'm not entirely sold on the theory, but the
mental gymnastics merely reading it put me through were
worth it

That voice isn't god, but you have to wonder why it is
there. As i observe it, i wonder how much it actually
influences my behavior.

Why did you talk to yourself? You know what you are going to
say to yourself, yet you still listen to yourself. Seems
pointless.

terrence mckenna is your classic stopped clock that tells
the right time twice a day. that shit about mushrooms being
interstellar travelers? wow, what a fucking concept. i
want to believe, but i'm simply not that daft.
despite being a cunt hair away from ulillillia i've somehow
managed to accept that live is an ugly, crazy, mess, and
these theories are largely just seductive distractions.

in any case, mckenna proposed that consciousness was a
bubble -- like backpressure in the pipes, almost. an analogy
that will make a hell of a lot more sense to the sort that
browse xlt is that consciousness is like a bucket brigade
delay line. a feedback loop that sustains itself.

there was some research recently about doing that brain
electro stimulation fing while people were asleep: they
found a certain frequency tended to massively trigger lucid
dreams in anyone they zapped. my take is that consciousness
is almost like the resonance frequency of a very complex
pile of gooey biological muck.

also, as i thought i made clear, i talked to myself because
no one else wanted to. about all that sinks in is who is
nastiest to me.

actually, it really does feel like a different thing than my
usual internal monologue. the best i can describe it is if
you close your eyes and imagine you bouncing one of dem
4square balls off a brick wall. just chill and imagine.
dribble it. for like 20mins. proper reality drifts off and
you start to do creative throws and shit. after a few weeks
of this you get bored and you need a challenge so you
simulate another entity.

should note i'm half kidding about all this, really.
overdramaticizing. firefox spell correct suggested i change
that to "overdecorating" which is actually not bad

i actually remember my first proper schizo incident. i was
about six months into smoking weed, stoned out of my gourd
in some frat house (theta chi shout outs) when a voice in my
hed said, "it's time to leave." and indeed it was. as soon
as i stood up; some other people crashed through the door.
i'd been there a bit and chairs were short.

in the end, i feel it's much more fun to treat it all as a
4bar loop and just jam to it. there will always be a whisper
from your ghost, like ghost in the shell says. throw some
drugs into the blender and suddenly things are outright
yelling at ya, but... it's still the same message mang.

i just picture your whole life as that one scene from
trainspotting: (the worst) TOILET (in all of scotland). i
spend perhaps an hour or two concentrating this image as i
dance to some old impulse tracker shit no one here has.
after i burn myself out, i sit still and meditate on it
further. ddrummondd. the worst toilet. in all of scotland

I don't even know who i am talking too in this threaf, just
other 'voices' that came from fucking nowhere, and now
materialized into silent symbols on my smartphone screen, so
i don't even know if they represent what they pretend to
represent.
Do you find that odd? I find that odd.

i'd cleave regular, daily internal monologue apart from what
i guess you'd call intuition, which is deeper and more
commanding. i can only imagine how frightening it must be if
you have something wrong with the latter and it's
consistently feeding you malarkey. it arouses in ye the sort
of latent reaction a recording of your parents yelling
would.

i feel like, when i meditate and quiet my internal
monologue, the intuition voice shows up a bit more. figure
the daily noise just drowns it out. i should note it's not
black/white either; it can be quiet as a whisper or loud as
a yell. sometimes i almost feel like i'm trying to hear
someone talk over the phone through a lot of wind, or as if
it's a dream you can ALMOST remember, but not quite.

internal monologue is an API for consciousness to google
search through jung's turf. those intuition alert voices are
like hardware interrupts, though. i presume it's intended to
kick in and get you out of danger when you'd otherwise not
notice.

I dream, often when i sleep. Sometimes i can remember what i
dreamt. Watching movies can also introduce dream like
states. If you loose yourself in a movie, you vanish as a
person for some time.

So, i thought i'd write about my inner monologue on this
forum about electronic music, i used to visit very often.
There were lots idiotic spammers in that place, which were
unable to lead a normal conversation. This however, did not
bother me that much, because in that context, my problems
became less serious, and sometimes i thought this was a good
thing.
My plan was to tell them, how I examine my inner dialogue,
while i was experiencing the outside reality.
This reminded my about some books i read, which contained
only such inner monologues. My plan was to install these
voices in my head, or at least emulate them somehow in my
daily life.
I took a look at the forum, and a giant wall of boredom hit.
This site remind me of failed efforts of becoming a
musician. Would my new plan to change my inner dialogue
another futile attempt to regulate my emotions like it was,
when i tried to make music?

I abandoned my plan and started to masturbate. Porn almost
never bored me.
---------------------------------------------------
Ok guys, this is what the inner voice said today.

im so tired staying up late last night, my inner monologue
is silent, when i look out of my eyes its kind of looking
out of a car window on a journey, suppose the higher
functionality of my brain must be in suspend mode,

i think also inner monologue/ being too self aware is bad in
general for creativity, you end up with something contrived,

i know that seems like some sort of logical contradiction,
but its only apparent when playing your music back; usually
the stuff i'm making at the time i think wow this is
brilliant and i play it back the next day and its the
biggest pile of wank ive ever heard, then something i might
have made years ago i never paid much attention to sounds
much better, and its always the stuff i did when i was just
hearing and out of it

Porn? You're in the state of the physics my friend not into
the mental conditions of your soul. Try to climb the ladder
and start listening to your inner voice instead of the voice
of your natural body, or simpler: the big scream of your
probably small penis.
