Yup, that. And the BoC, The Field, Oneohtrix, Tim Hecker.
I still haven't solved all the Exai mazes.

I had a pretty good year, which has been soundtrack'd to a large extent by Astrobotnia, Jega, Bochum Welt, d'Archangelo etc. Not new releases but artists I never really bothered with before but have caught up with this year.
Exai is not too bad but I don't jerk off over it. New mu-ziq was great. Tomorrow's Harvest was good but yep just too depressing, I can't enjoy it in the same way.

Thx. Jah mang, I was pretty impressed with the Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon soundtrack, as well.
Well, my picks for the year- what has moved me "in that one way that IDM used to"- is all the vaporwave, seapunk, etc. shiz been around. Lotta hit and miss, but the good shit- oh, man, what a crazy compilation the tracks would make, all putting you in some coked out psychedelic 80's that didn't even exist for you. Lazer shoulderpads 4 life, apparently.

Love the stuff from tri angle records, that's my discovery of the year. For the rest, you know: exai, boc, ceephax, mbv etc. Overall this year was pretty good for me :-)
I also noticed a change this year: more people accept electronic music, for example: the daft punk album. It's now easier to explain what you're listening to when you talk about electronic music, acid, idm etc.

+1 on Retape
Looking at 2013-stuff in my library is kinda telling me how much I feel like an old geezer that only listens to older shit.
But 2013 have brought the following good stuff: Bwoy De Bhajan - 2032 Minilogue - Blomma Abstraxion - Break Of Lights (album) well I don't have to say it, but BoC also...
And that's about that... major letdowns was Siriusmo and Moderat. Both was albums that I had been waiting for, and both ended up not delivering a lot. There was a lot of singing on the albums, and that just doesn't fit any of those two.
The new NIN has been spinning on my mp3, and Gold Panda's 'half of where you live' is quite fascinating too.

Sup everybody. You just reminded me that I haven't made it through Exai once yet. My electronics is failing, as evidenced by this shite list of things I enjoyed this year, each with an example youtube.
Atoms For Peace - Amok Thundercat - Apocalypse The House In The Woods - Bucolica Laurel Halo - Chance of Rain Inga Copeland - Don't Look Back... Earl Sweatshirt - Doris Tyler, The Creator - Wolf FKA Twigs - EP2 The Stranger - Watching Dead Empires in Decay Sky Ferreira - Night Time, My Time
I actually really like the Sky Ferreira album, sue me. I'm very surprised there are two Odd Future albums in there. Wouldn't have predicted that at the beginning. If anything this year was marked by artists that I used to love releasing albums that didn't do anything for me, Steve Mason, Eels, BoC etc. There was also a bunch of great stuff I heard on bandcamp, I'll try to put together a band camp list later.

I lost track of music when my ipod went in for repair, I reeeeally should pay that 40 quid and rescue it...
Albums... Kylesa, Dillinger Escape Plan, Pelican, Russian Circles, Palms, Carcass, Immolation, Vista Chino, Jon Hopkins, QOTSA, Arctic Monkeys(!), Frankmusik,
Stuff on youtube I dug... Sleep Terror, George Ezra, Callum Graham and most of Candyrat, Cinemasins, Screenjunkies
Honorable irritated mention to Buckethead for releasing something like 28 albums this year alone, I spun em all at least once if rarely twice
Film (so far)
1. Gravity 2. Upstream Colour 3. Captain Phillips 4. Mud 5. The Kings of Summer 6. Pain and Gain 7. The Way Way Back 8. The World's End 9. Prisoners 10. Side Effects 11. The Place Beyond the Pines 12. Maniac 13. Stuck in Love 14. This Is the End 15. Stoker 16. Behind the Candelabra 17. The Great Gatsby 18. The East 19. Elysium 20. Fat Kid Rules The World
Not bad:
White House Down, The Last Stand, Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, Disconnect, The Dirties, Fast and Furious 6, Trance, Machete Kills
The other 100 or so I saw are barely worth a mention
Anyone got any youtube channels links?

I love that 2013 Forest Swords album from Tri Angle. It has lots of space/dub in it. I hunt for such reverb/atmospherics in music. The last long track on the album with farfisa w/vibrato turned on - class.
