Ya' know, it automatically redirects to discogs.com
Rephlex page.
WTF happened to they?
I think now RDJ is don't want to maintaining hes label
anymore.

Noooo Grant! Maybe they are using it as a holding page for
now. I have been buying more rephlex than ever lately.

Perhaps they have just pulled it in anticipation of their
upcoming relaunch as Reflex v2 - with extended catalog space
(+260 releases)

At least the rephlex page doesn't redirect to DUBturbo.

on it anymore and can't be bothered with it.

i chatted with him on facebook a bit like two years ago --
initially about boomkat jerking everyone off with steinvord
pre-orders, but since i was there i asked "wtf is up with
rephlex" anyways? why do you guys not update the store with
more trax?

what he told me is this: it's just him, really. he runs the
place the same way he has for the last 20 years. they don't
add tracks to their digital store because that just hurts
vinyl sales.

all but the last part of that made sense to me... like
people don't rip vinyls and upload that?

in any case, maybe he finally got fed up with the whole mess
and retired.

Rephlex was not in best shape 2 years ago (only 4 CD-only
releases), in 2013 they are completely dominating. I hope
they keep it up like this.

I believe (and hope) because it redirects, instead of
completely offline, that this is just temporary. Grant even
said on fb back in late august that new official Rephlex
shirts were coming, and there will be a release from Aleksi
Perala of 4 albums (+ 1 EP) soon. Besides that, the Rephlex
website has never been the center of focus of the label
anyway.

or he just doubled-down on the "no one buys mp3s" policy and
decided to save some dosh by cancelling the web hosting
account.

"they don't

fucked up times

well, that wasn't literally what he said. it was something
like "why sell digital tracks when people just pirate it"

my answer was: why not? unless it's costly to host the
tracks or there are licensing issues, why not give people
the option? consider it a glorified donation box, and it
makes sense. the way this crowd is, i feel people really
would chip in a few bucks if rephlex asked

i've made 25 bucks off my ep that i offered as
pay-what-you-want.

that's 25 bucks more than i would have made if it was
released by rephlex :P

Grant-Wilson Clarification has not been forthcoming. I get
the feeling Rephlex never felt at home on the Web. The first
couple of iterations of their site were great. I think it
all went down hill around the Grime and Smojphace period,
the Arse-Ache Years.
