I find it joyless and unlistenable :( Maybe if it was played at punishing volume with Oscikslisk in front of my holding his minidisc, I don't know.

I feel bad about saying that now, one should always be grateful that Autechre are giving us these sounds and doubtless it'll fall into place for me after giving it the attention it deserves. I will try again. One should never comment on Ae after only a couple of cursory listens. Sorry Sean and Rob for doubting you, again. I DON'T DESERVE YOU!

I should probably get a proper stereo and not play everything off my laptop through my bass guitar amp. I've probably never heard anything that anyone would actually recognise as being by Ae at all ever - just some low rumbling. Which I, you know, enjoy.

I am listening to it now properly. I promise, properly!
This is a tonic against mediocrity. It's actually very good. I suppose with Ae there's always this level of expectation of what the new stuff is going to sound like, and because of their very nature, they are going to confound and confuse on initial exposure. But then you come round to them, and it's awesome - like always.
Untilted took me YEARS to enjoy. YEARS. But now I do and I am happy.
tac Lacora is a shifting, hot pants wearing, fucking epic. It makes me want to run around Finsbury Park wearing nothing but a High Visibility tabbard.

I guess what I was hoping for was another "Move of ten" - but of course they're not going to deliver "what I want", and thank god. Though I did ask them for Amber II and they served up Oversteps. And thank god.

Just gave those Exai leftovers a second listen, thru AKG K-701.
Overall, it is a bit boring and all the tracks sound the same.
A2 and B2 are better than A1 and B1 (this one sucks, except for the beginning imho). B2 could have been on Move of Ten.
The mood is cold and sinister, especially on the first side.
Nothing special goin' on in the background, though it was better on phones than on speakers.
Should be a bit of a grower, but I'm not expecting it to be a strong EP.

I get all kinds of scifi imagery listening to this. Best new Autechre in many years, if you ask me. So much going on, so much detail. Especially 2 & 3.

This crazy man at the park gave me some acid. Had been over 15 years and i thought a night in would be fun. Get thinking and stuff. After deciding not to (i was scared) i eventually put the cans on and played the eP. It was easier to make sense of it all but was a right headrush. Melodies thankfully sticking out. Details clear.
Best release in a while. I like the fact it's 4 tracks as it makes it mine quicker.
(as for the acid, i came up with some good stories. I don't recommend watching criminal minds though)

I get sci-fi imagery from this, in a contemplative Trakovsky "Solaris" stylee - I like the trick they pull of on this and a track or two on Exai that sounds like air / gas escaping / being introduced or some kind of grand vista coming in to view.
Lovely stuff, and digging the shit out of "newfound"
BONUS UNSOLICITED OPINION This does remind me a bit of Reload's "A Collection of Short Stories"

It's very satisfying to listen to, but I have to admit I listen to a lot decomposed noise and even if I don't have any tunes in my car I prefer to listen to static then to tune into a station, it helps me focus. So you've got a very wide net to impress me

i dig it a lot. i listened to all of exai today and after two hours was a little hungry for more. l-event fit the bill perfectly. sorta glad they didnt release it together with it, but it fit with that perfectly. i think if they woulda put keyosc or whatever that japanese import track and one other softer track on there it woulda stood up better as an ep like chiclisuite did.

autechre is sort of like the GOP in the US, in a way. they've backed themselves into a corner, and depend on a white male demographic. as long as they continue to play their cards right, certain chaps will always project all sorts of amazing things onto the music, which never actually occurred to brown &/|| booth. they simply have to strike the right tone and remain a tad aloof. however, this tactic is also spectacularly limp at capturing new listeners, leaving them to die a slow death of moldering elbow patches: Squeezed between repeating themselves into irrelevancy, and popping the farce bubble (which would cause a dust-up orders of magnitudes worse than chris clark's compressor changeup). truly, grave times
