in my large collection, and Ill get a few more of his stuff

i own a couple merzbow cds
i hardly ever listen to em though.
noise rarely ever impresses me. it doesn't seem like it
would take too much effort to produce. I have done live
noise shows before and they were much easier to do than live
music. Merzbow IS the king of noise though.

i think its made to be enjoyed as a live experience as
well... unfortunatly i'm not too experienced w/ merzbow, i
saw him live before i heard any of his albums, and the live
experience was very interesting.. i tried to duplicate it
with one of his albums but its just like listening to a data
CD in analog mode... not interesting

are you refering to the ones i hooked you up /w? honestly
you do have to be in mood to listen to merzbow...preferably
a very angsty depression...or when it's raining/snowing...or
when you wanna trip HARD. merzbow is a exploration of
noise...chaos theroy musically expressed. there is a
definate beauty in the random. I had to subject my friends,
and whole cities (especially seattle traffic jams) to loud
ass merzbow, and they all get something out of it (for the
traffic jams, it mostly pisses ppl off).

merzbow is very japan...and demonstrates many aspects of
their culture...especially the whole "everything is an art"
motiff they strongly excersie. i'm runnign blanks on
explaing this, but it's very simmular to oigami, or kendo.

anyways, that's what i get out of it...i'd hate for you not
to like him at all...did i give you "a perfect pain?" i
don't remember...that whole day/night was a complete haze,
and i constantly fought to stay awake...

I have here an essay written on japanese noise/ merzbow, a
very highbrow, postgraduate student style, with a lots of
Derrida and Deleuze/ Guatarri namedropping but i'm not sure
where I could post it for you guys to read...

this is a long shot but: does it have these wailing
syren-like noises at the beginning and a lot of cut-out
silences like your headphones jack just slid out of the
diskman? If it does, than it's that JO'R remix..

yep those sirens are there! as are those silences. damn not
autechre then :(

also the track length is 4'13

oh, that's the one, that's JO'R, allright. One of the less
successful on that Scumtron remix album: you should check
out Pan Sonic's (they still were Panasonic at the time I
think) and Rehberg & Bauer's remixes, they kill, but akita's
own two tracks on that album (eat beat eat 1 and 2) are
total massacre and the second one (#1 BTW) starts right
after Ae remix, without any pause and that's just such a
fucking shock...

hmmm.
So whats your favorite Merzbow track?
I cant remember the name but i like the one that goes,

"SCREEEEEEEEEGHHHHGHHHGHHHBUUUGHHHHHSRCRRRRREEEEEEEEEGHOOOO
OBUUGGGGscreeeskweeeeeeEEEEGURRRRGHGHGHUUURRRROOOOOOOOschre
eeeeSCCHHHHHHRRRREEEEEEEGGGRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHGGGHHHHHeeeeeeeEE
EEEE!"

and then it breaks into this really trancy part that goes,

"GHHHRREEEEEEEEEEGHHHHHHschreeeeeeIIIIGGGHHHHEEEEEEUURrrrrr
rrRRRRrrrRRRuggghEEEEEEEE!!!!"

you know the one i am talking about? i think it is a social
commentary of the growth of economic dominance over 3rd
world politics. dang, whats the name of that track?

sound the same. But I know what you mean and bear no grudge

I honestly think most merzbow (that i´ve heard) is shit. It
sounds like shit running through a noise filter. Not very
innovative. I´ve heard a couple of tracks and i had about
enough after the first half of it.

all merzbow does not sound the same...if this were true,
then why do ppl pefer diffrent abulms over another? i mean
if merzbow sounds completly the same then why are so many
ppl into him? prolific crap is just prolific crap, and won't
hold a fan base...Merzbow certianly does hold a fan base,
and it's pretty damn big for just "sounding all the same."
and yes i have a fave track, and fave cd's. my absolute fave
track is track 1 off of "Music for bondage performance" (i
can't find the case right now), and fave cd is "a perfect
pain."

well i didn't mean it sounds COMPLETELY the same. I have a
few of his albums myself. I have the one with the bee on
the front, i have the one he did with Ladybird (which is my
favorite btw) and the one with that naked chick on the
cover. but i stopped buying his stuff because if i want to
hear distortion, static and hissing i can make it myself. in
fact i have made it myself. listen:
www.mp3.com/evolume
the track is called "pryme" you can tell me if i suck at
making noise. 'course my version of noise is a little more
structured than merzbow because the track is based on prime
numbers.

no ill will to you all by the way. I probably "just dont'
get it" and i kinda envy people that can find pleasure in
things that i cannot.

naw i dont' dj. when i played raves it was live music.
When we (golgi apparatus) did a noise show, it was at
MachineWerks (spelling?) on capitol hill and i used a couple
turntables running through a few effects processors but it
wasn't so much dj'ing as much as just scratching in beat
loops with a lot of feedback.
