Simple version: Every decision is primarily controlled by money. Alex Jones profits off of the peoples anger and confusion that stems from the exploitation of them and their inability to do anything about it. For many people it seems hard to get ahead and make any more money beyond the basics, and the 'system' makes it real fucking hard to become anything more than a wage slave cog. Personal ability and responsibility comes into play here. Not everyone has equal skills nor determination, but in theory, anyone can become rich if they can come up with an idea and execute it well enough to sell it and make it popular. We have some problem with commercial news and media, because the money then controls the mainstream culture, leading in an apparent downward spiral away from deep thought, empathy, etc. If I am to theorize I would say "the people" are just as responsible for the world today as any government or corp. The corps just go where the profit is, the people have to use their wallet and creativity to fight the corps in the free market, kind of like we're doing with the internet now. At least it seems like Obama is trying to do some good, but the government and society is a HUGE arena, with at minimum thousands of influencing voices, all fighting for their agendas. Government can't fix everything, nor should it. I don't believe we're being guided and controlled by the illuminati or whatever, this is a huge mess of millions of people fighting for their voices in a big societal machine. There's a lot of fucked up stuff in the media, in government, etc, but since us as a people are so divided, fuck if we can do anything about it. It seems like the trend has been further atomization of everything, and money is the sole decider of outcomes. People take a backseat. Who really cares about "the world" anymore? It's all the immediate surroundings, and we internalize the fact that it's all we can control. We want a narrative, and that's what conspiracy theories provide, along with blame and ange |
