What does your name mean?

offline shibumi from United States on 2002-04-15 16:58 [#00175734]
Points: 359 Status: Lurker

My name's from a book by someone named Trevinian. No one
knows who Trevinan is. He (or she) has a tendency to satire
cultures from every continent, except, for some odd reason,
the Basque culture. (Ie, one quote is "Europeans drive cars
as extensions of their penises, Americans as a replacement
for.") Because cyberspace is really no-space, I thought
this would be appropriate. The main character of Shibumi is
an assassin, half Caucasian/ half Asian, just like me.
(except for the assassin part).

offline Jarworski from The Grove (United Kingdom) on 2002-04-15 17:03 [#00175743]
Points: 10836 Status: Lurker

Well...

'Jaworski' is a song by a band called Will Haven

When I first went on the net, I had to put something in for
user name. That popped in my head for some reason, so I put
it in. Misspelling it in thr process. But my friends started
calling me Jar so I just stuck with it for the lack of
anything better...

My other nicknames in real life have included Dylan
Caerfylan, D.Tharg and Stinky!

Simple story, it's the name of one of my favourite video
game series. (Atleast the English version.). And I think it
sounds really cool =p

flib·ber·ti·gib·bet - A silly, scatterbrained, or
garrulous person.

It is a word that rather aptly describes myself. I spell it
with one "b" at the beginning rather than two. Don't ask
why - I myself don't understand yet.

(or perhaps it could have been a silly little scatterbrained
mistake on my behalf)

offline Ophecks from Nova Scotia (Canada) on 2002-04-15 18:33 [#00175932]
Points: 19190 Status: Moderator | Show recordbag

Just wanted to start a couple topics and ask a couple
questions about ''RDJ's best albums'' or something, didn't
plan on staying around... so I just used ''Ophecks'', cuz
it's ''Aphex'' with an O, and the X replaced with CKS for
aesthetic purposes. Never liked the name... but the board
was hilarious, so I stuck and the name stuck. I don't mind
it now.

Points: 221 Status: Lurker

my name helios seems to refer to the greek god of the sun.
the sun as a symbol of positiv thinink
and for me especally to look over the world(situation).
and perhaps the name shows a bit my selfworship

offline EVOL from a long time ago on 2002-04-15 19:40 [#00176046]
Points: 4921 Status: Lurker

EVOL = LOVE

i dunno why but i have always liked this nick. for me it's
kinda like ying & yang. there is positivity in the word
'love', spell it backwards and it becomes something rather
negative. so it has to do with the duality that occurs in
everything. also i am a gemini so that's where the whole
two sided deal comes in. it's all about balance i guess.

Roy G. Biv. The color spectrum. Red Orange Yellow Green Blue
Indigo Violet. and core is just like, hardcore, snotcore,
pezcore, you know. it's also a great BoC song.
and just for kicks, i thought some people might find this
interesting
Bucephalus isn't an adjective. it was the name of Alexander
the Great's horse, that he rode through many of his military
campaigns...

offline LeCoeur from the outer edge of the universe (United States) on 2002-04-16 02:09 [#00176831]

my name.....well tis a long story, but it was given to me by
a italian gondilier because of a necklace i was wearing
which i purchased that day on the island of murano near
venice. it's a 'red heart of glass' on a black beaded
chain....it's a favourite. he said he would call me
'le coeur' and i said 'the heart' and he then waxed poetic
for a bit.....but i really liked that name.....and well when
it came to choose a name for whatever....that was
IT.....ehheheh

although the most fequently asked question is how do you
pronounce that...ehehehe

like ......liquor....=0)

got kicked off so I got some sort of IP address patch thing
and I reversed my name to urugz... pretty smart, huh?

yes, I downloaded an acoustic version of Metallica's Fade to
Black cause I play guitar. (old school metallica is a
guilty pleasure of mine)

My given name was Roadackle Quinebinez Narrows. I was
christened Road Narrows when I saw it on a sign at my
school. I always thought it would be queer if someone were
to name their child after a road sign. And Road Narrows
sounds like an actual name that a person could have. And
it's the name of my little gopher in the picture. And I
talk for too long. Period.

my name is nanotechnology...for those who don't know what
that is...basically it's one of our next steps in
evolution...tiny micorscopic machines that can be programmed
to "assemble" cellular structures... which means we could
kill cancer...or syntheticly create a retro-virus... we'll
also have tha ablility to grow perfect diamonds from
scratch...and probably be able to infuse humans with them...
