i just noticed this "microSAMPLER" thing korg makes. anyone
tried that? seems like it'd make a good little break slicing
machine

The micro sampler is FUN but not worth laying notes down!
If you want a sampler it's Akai all the way!

chut up. you laugh. by next quarter, we'll all remember how
buriar wrote some terrible album on some godawful roland
phrase sampler. how did he do it? it is a mystery of science

in conclusion, i feel like manufacturers need to remember
what the fuck it is to craft a proper fucking instrument. i
suppose i prefer the sh101 as mine.

i think the volca is a big step, though. not some stupid
workstation with processing 9000. just a fun little widget
with a warranty you're free to void.

someone at korg got a small budget and has parlayed it into
something serious. hope he keeps going.

from what i know of taking them apart, it's gonna have some
741 op amps with bad soldering. but also a satanic glyph on
the pcb that lets you know you're in the right place.

The keys and beats sound amazing, instant electro. What sort
of buttons are those? They look like the ribbon thingy from
monotron.

dollars to donuts it's the same chassis for all these; they
just vary the innards and the graphics. either a ribbon or a
membrane with discrete buttons.

My guess would be people who want to make music that sounds
like it's from the 80s.
