So 11 dimensions it is?

Please let me know!

shame they'll only use it to print flying knives that mash
up rain into fucking hydrogen nanocake or whatever

"Imagine a scenario where you go to Ikea and buy a chair,
put it in your room and it self-assembles," is this supposed
to be a joke? what a bullshit example..

misantroll: Oreos apparently give you:

Heart disease.
Alzheimer's Disease.
Prostate cancer.
Diabetes.
Obesity.

MIT has been churning out fluff pieces for the press on 3D
printing and self-assembling nano crap for the last decade
or two, and that shit is still weak sauce

Well yeah. Not what this was about though. I want your
thoughts regarding dimensions.

there are ways to visualize things beyond three dimensions.
takes a bit of focus, though, as it's one of those things
that requires building up a house of cards in your mind.

actually looks quite interesting. i'd like to see more
examples.

so i guess you dunk the ikea box into the pool, and it
assembles into a partial cube of dubious practicality?

"oh my god 3D printing is going to change the world" --
well, it could, if it weren't so complicated, and still in a
very nascent stage of the development. they can't do
electronics, and you still have to do manual assembly for
anything more complicated than a statuette.

the machines cost thousands, so you need to go to a craft
store and rent time on one. to make a crappy one at home,
you need to be the sort of chap that takes builds robots for
a hobby.

it's seductive to talk about downloading the latest nike
kicks off piratebay each week, how the machines will spread
like wildfire after becoming capable of replicating (one 3D
printer making other 3D printers). how we can make "4D"
things... but it's going to be stuck in labs and basements
until walmart invests, or the machines become a cheap
appliance like a washing machine.... and do electronics, and
complicated machines, etc.

short term, i do suppose it's good for making custom cogs
and gears quick, and you'll love that if you make robots
from old VCR parts etc.

its not printing, its not 4d.
its not 4d printing.
its a material with an apparent physical memory.

posted from freqy's space ship computer.

certain bits absorb water, other bits don't. add water, the
water-absorbing bits expand, the other bits remain rigid.
boom, 3D-jointed object. it's not future science, it's one
of those little capsules you put into the bathtub and watch
turn into a duck

what a predictable reply. i already have my response to it
thought up; it came to me on the toilet:

so you like ducks?? simple pleasures for simple minds, i
guess

What is it with this place and people saying "poop"?
I mean who the fuck says "poop"? Yet it's like a quarter of
the current XLT crowd use the word and seem to absolutely
love it.

I'm not sure. Are we now discussing the concept of infinity?

You deliberately chose to point out you would shit on
germans. Not people who might be german.
