haha, yes. not thanks to the radio show though. my mistake was to listen to it in one take, as i prefer to do so when listening to albums in general. but as the guy in the fact review pointed out this is rather supposed to me listened to in "small chunks". the first half just has so many unlovable sounds that i was so exhausted arriving at bladelores that i couldn't even appreciate it. even the obvious acroyear2 inspiration of fleure and that infamous autechre drumloop in tess xi didn't help in making me like the first hour. but after bladelores, it gets pretty exciting. although nodezs is my second least favourite after irlite, it is at least shorter. and all the rest of the second half make up for it pretty much. and the ending is absolutely sublime. the three last tracks together might be one of my favourite autechre moments right now. |

Glad to read that! I changed my mind too. I absolutely disliked Fleure and Irlite on my first listenings, but liked Javatee-C, Bladelores, 1 1 is and, above all, Deco Loc quite quickly. Now I like a lot of tracks, including those two openers of disc 1. I find tunrepik insane and probably the rest will grow. |

cannot really say as i don't know the names of the tracks on quadrange. one thing for sure, i like the whole "project" and i listen to it quite often, just not single tracks of it. |

untilted is the last album where i really rememberall of the track names an differentiate between all of them. afterwards the albums became some sort of hit & miss compilations for me. |

For me too, but that's why I remember some tracks well and others not at all. I was talking about the first track on Quadrange, and the 3rd starting from the end. For me those are the only very good tracks of the whole "project". On "Oversteps" I only love "Treale", and like a few others. I wasn't too keen on Untilted. |

i love untilted to death, however i still regard draft 7.30 as autechres finest, and one of the best electronic albums of all. it is perfect in every regard, solid and cohesive yet shows a wide variety of sounds. with quaristice my view on these guys started to detoriate a bit. i liked the idea of an album derived from their live jamming, and altogether with the quadrange ep it gives some nice insight in the way of how those guys work. however this mostly relates to quadrange which i somehow see as a separate album. quaristice had just too much junk, short unlovable tracks. it's hard to argue about "bnc castl" not being a simple fucking joke. so if it is a joke, than why is it there in the first place. i know this seems a little far fetched, but this was the point where i was a bit afraid that these guys might in fact be aware of what most autechre haters say - that they can pretty much at this point release their granulated farts and the fans will buy it. sadly, their track-naming since quaristice just seems to underline my point pretty much. i am pretty much at the point where i just don't care anymore about learning these. |

The tracknaming since Quaristice is a bit annoying, yeah, especially due to the huge amount of tracks. What about Oversteps and Move of Ten? Those releases sound less like "granulated farts" than Quaristice since there are more melodies and the songs are more constructed. Btw, what's wrong if the computers do all the job, since the music is mindblowing? I like Draft but prefer Confield or Chiastic Slide, I find on them more interesting sounds and weirdness. As for Untilted, I don't like lots of the sounds used. For example the beginning of Ipacial Section. I am afraid there're some not-so-good sounds on Exai as well, but I need more listenings. |
