irlite(get 0) is sounds so dense.

this might become one of my favorite autechre albums.

Woah. The Japan only bonus track is sweet as well
!

In my opinion, it sucks at lot more than Oversteps, which
was nice, but not as much as Untilted and Quaristice, which
were plain crap.
Draft is better, no speak about Confield, EP7 and that...

Is it just me or have the last few albums been a lot like
when you walk into a friends studio and they are just
pissing around with a new synth or effect.

I'm so glad you all share your opinion on this album I don't
give a fuck about the album any more.. it doesn't matter
anyway: it's there: exai.

I think it is a bit more accomplished than Oversteps or Move
of Ten and more consistent than Quaristice+. Stylewise I
think they've pretty much just 'been autechre' since
somewhere around Chiastic Slide.

it's great, can't wait for the EP.
Please let ther be a double EP.

I'm loving the denseness and the sections of each track,
like there was on Untlilted.
How could people not like Bladelores, irlite or recks on?

I want MOAR!

Tell ya wat, I do like T ess xi. 'Specially the tune to it,
and how it descends with each repetition or whatever.

is that japan-only track for real?

Do you make music? I find your comment insulting. Just
because you can't find the patterns you want and your brain
doesn't even want to try, no need to make stupid
assumptions. It's this whole 'random debacle' all over
again.

Was your comment correct, i think they would be releasing an
album every 3 months. It's clear (to me at least) that a lot
of work and effort goes into their music.

Don't be a prick because you don't like it. I'd like to know
how many times you've given the album a go.

-crazone: tough guy.

this album

I love it when the recks on beat kicks in, it's like
"YeeeeAAAAHHHH!"
The only tracks I don't like are Fleure and the last one, I
don't feel anything from them.

Irlite is probably the best track, each "section" is
fantastic.

Exai is right up there with their best work.

Pitchfork misses the point and gives Exai a 5.9. Not
surprising but still a shame...

I love how that 'journalist' seems to be telling us where Ae
went wrong and can't do this and that. Who are you, Grayson
Currin?

Typical pitchfork shit like: ""Irlite (get 0)" makes a
synthesizer sound like a church organ overrun by the ghosts
in the graveyard, while "T ess xi" employs fluorescent soul
keyboards as its basic building block.." is kind of funny.

a double LP, it's a quadruple LP."

seems to me we could debate this point with little problem.

Listened to it again this week and it still sounds like
shit.
I think as Ive gotten older, my appreciation for melody has
grown and naturally the appeal of Autechre has completely
vanished for me.

i agree it's best dipped in and out of. i've generally
listened to one disc at a time, haven't managed the whole
thing in one go

A good review, I do broadly agree with what their view of
Exai feeling like a good summation of, what I think is
particularly impressive, all of Ae's history.

I also like the notion of their post-2008 output (whether
this is strictly true or not) being a sprawling collection
of computer files rather than albums ( I think this stands
for Quaristice, which, in the light of Oversteps + Exai
seems like some kind of blueprint) ... I don't know, you can
read too much into all this but Exai does feel like a
realisation of all that came before in Ae World.

Bees. Bee stabs?

"Breaking through like the sun coming up on a sodden
Tupperware-grey morning..."

"ominous poisoned-candy "

"a flurry of bicycle-kicking snares"

Ae reviews...

I feel ya. I love beepy crunchy mad beats and all that, but
if it's to be more than just background music for me, it
needs to have an actual melody too. Autechre CAN pull it off
beautifully, they just seem to choose not to, a lot of the
time.

Especially because in the mix, the track was cut before the
last moments of the track, which are the best part. Just to
make people buy the album to hear SPL9 in full.
