Actually I played a live-set yesterday, where I did
something similar.

This is how my setup work:

My setup is based on the fact that I wanted oldschool
step-sequencing onto my Novation Drumstation.

In FL add a 'MIDIout' plugin - the drummachine has to be
psychically connected to the MIDI out of your
soundcard/midi-controller. In the MIDI Settings of FL,
select that the MIDI out of your soundcard has a Port number
and add 'Send Master Sync' to the output. In the
MIDIout-plugin, select that same Port number.

Now you're already there - you can program your drummachine
through FL through the MIDIout plugin. But if you want the
step-sequencing (oldschool FL style), you'll need to go more
advanced - here's how:

Make several 'Layer' plugins in FL - each corresponding to
the drumsound of your synth (kick, snare, tom etc.). Rename
them to match your sounds. Now you go in to each Layer and
select the MIDIout as child. Now every Layer has the same
functionality as your MIDIout.
What you now have to do, is change the root note on every
layer, so it matches the sounds on your drummachine - if you
don't have a midi implementation chart, it might take a
while, but in the end you'll end up with a step-sequencer
for every drumsound on your drummashine, and that's just
awesome.

If you wanna go even more advanced, add a Drumsynth LIVE VST
(important that it's the VST not the FL plugin). Then add
the VST as child to every layer you've made, and then go in
and change the sounds in the Drumsynth to match your
drummachine MIDI. This will give you the ability to program
drums on-the-fly, and then let them rip onto the hardware
when you're in the studio.

You're welcome.

got it figured out before i even posted this actually the
guy i was asking for just didnt wire up the hardware until
i got over to his place.

hes basically controlling a microkorg, 707, and some
rackmount multitimbral deal using a few seperate channels in
fl.

next trick is to get a trigger setup something easier than
mouse clicks and qwerty

im thinking ill wind up getting a second mpd probably 32
this time rather than the 26, for my own variations of this
crap anyways, although i admire and respect the mild
intricacy he's taken to getting this other hardware to work

thanks!
