i dunno, misantroll. anyone who's ever been hit up with "hey
you have a studio right? could you digitize my dad's old
tapes?" might find this a handy thing to know about: here,
80quid, works with your iphone innit, now leave me alone you
are stopping me from programming my drum machines

Yes, I'm always intrigued how people presume how a passion
for making electronic music translates to, "I'd love to
be your slave, performing time consuming, mindless,
repetitive work of translating your outdated media to CDs,
which I have the pleasure of paying for."

When the fact is, if they were prepared to pay even minimum
wage for the time it'd take to perform this service, it
would be far cheaper and better quality for them to just buy
digital versions of the tracks concerned. The people
requesting this inevitably have no skills that would be of
any conceivable use to you, so the chance of them somehow
repaying the favour is usually nil.

If someone has the audio from their wedding, or their kid's
3rd birthday and want it on their PC, fair enough, I'll help
them out. Transposing their Now That's What I Call Music
series 1-48 and Bon Jovi tapes to MP3 and painstakingly
labeling each one? Ha ha, no.
