'troll' is a propaganda term, like 'pirate'. See how much better web 2.0 is? Twitter was obviously like a big fly trap, I mean look at their shitty flash bird logo (i guess they recently redid it, somehow the elites figured out it was shit with their lack of aesthetic taste). Such a shitty 'social networking' site, the main feature being limiting comment characters wtf, would never catch on in the free market; it was shoved in there, advertised and astroturfed, and now a monopoly of 1st mover advantage just like ebay, controlled by the elites. When we're all microchipped and have to finger print to use the web and have digital cash then everything will be traceable to everyone. Then we'll all be our own self enforcers because the whole system will be a big tapestry spying on you.
We're attacked from above by chemtrails and from below by underground crab people who spike the water supply with flouride. They store their farts in canisters, load them into drones then release them on children playgrounds (allegedly)!

"hater" is also a propaganda term. you can't say what you think, you can't critisize: nowadays it's called "hating". or "hatin'" like in e.g. "stop hatin' on me, bro"

I've seen this kind of thing happen more and more. It seems mad to me. The idea that the comments of another are objectively destructive. That's insane. If that were true, surely every book that has destructive ideas in it should be banned too?
Also, whatever happened to sticks and stones? Nobody needs to be hurt by the insane ramblings of another person. We only feel hurt because we make ourselves feel hurt.

As I was reading the first few sentences I was beginning to nod in agreement, thought I saw a pig fly past my window and suddenly news was coming in that hell was freezing over, but then the other sentences came along and well MAYBE we don't need to be microchipped to be self enforcing, lay off the 80s sci fi films.
love the crab people and chemtrails though.

My personal opinion is that Trolls are, by and large*, dicks, who hide behind anonymity to say and do things that would have them picking up their teeth if they tried it in real life. That said, I don't approve of the way the state's attitude to web-based comments doesn't seem to reflect the general populace's view/the current culture, that it is generally considered less serious than making the same comments on something like XLT than in say, a newspaper, or on TV.
*with a few notable exceptions, some well-executed trolls, carried out for the purpose of a joke, rather than being unpleasant, are hilarious.

That'd be awful if all internet comments were treated like those on twitter are. Great if you want police state style 'lets scrutinze everything you do and say', not so good if you care about free speech / want to be able to honestly express yourself. Not trying to promote people being unpleasant, but it's better than going down the censorship route.

I'm with you on this one. Putting up with the occasional unfunny dipshit troll, or having to wade through pages of inane youtube comments, is a small price to pay for freedom of speech.

Trollism is a true reflection of what human beings can be like behind the routine kind exterior we experience day to day.

trolling strikes me as a harsh medicine sort of fing. there are lots of pressures in life that keep a lid on people, but the internet's killer combo of anonymity and firepower really draws out the inner drama. people are more willing to lay their raw emotions on the table. given a lack of responsibility, it can be liberating to have a space to vent. it all centers around a collective schizophrenia in which we publicly deny our true feelings, because there's a certain social script to follow. some people just go batty under this sort of oppression, and release albums on riced out records.
