Not so much these days. But I have a significant collection
of Chester Gould dick Tracy's from when I was younger. Used
to love those. Published by Gladstone.

And I still have plenty of Harvey comics.

There was this Micky Mouse detective series which I also
loved. Also published by Gladstone, if I'm not mistaken.

Big fan. Mostly Japanese ones though not the stuff kids lap
up. I like my boring Gekiga style stuff and horror
and ero-grotesque!

Not yet delved into the world of superheroes. With american
stuff i like Chris Ware and Michael Kupperman. Loved Calvin
n Hobbes to bits when i was a child. Peanuts is lovely.

It all started reading my aunt's belgian comics. Tintin and
Lucky Luke, the Smurfs. I used to love sleeping at her place
as a child as i could read comics in bed at night as a
treat.

yeah, dig a few,
Battle Angel Alita is great,
loved to read the Akira Mangas aswell.
Durham Red & Druuna comics also stood out for me.

All in all i havent seen/read many, but theres tons and tons

of really good comic books out there, story and art-wise,
often coming in a series of 3 books à 60 pages.
in germany we get lots of good stuff via Splitter Verlag,
who have quite a quality catalogue.

If you search on the net there is a "walking the dead" video
game that is a bit like a comic/choose you own adventure
game. It looks really pretty/gore-y. On Xbox/PC/OSX and
everything.

Ah, yes. Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes and Tin Tin (and other
Herg¨¦). More staple diet from my childhood. Asterix was
big too, but never read much of it.

The peanuts animated series is good too. Love the music.

Comic books used to be so cheap (not the anthologies of
course). Good memories going down to the shop, picking up a
comic, crisps and fizzy drink and going home to indulge.

Is Family Circus supposed to be like a drug? I used to like
it because of its bland charm, but I now realize that it
could be used to take one into some other dimension. Sort
of the same reason I used to watch Scooby Doo.

Ah yeah forgot about Asterix. I would try and imagine the
taste of the magic potion. Aah the wilderbeast. Captain
Haddock made me want to drink alcohol. I just had this idea
that it must be delicious.

Anyone seen Tintin the movie thing?

It's not bad but it lacks the charm of the books, I'm still
creeped out by its Uncanny Valley factor.

It was pretty good. Not amazing but entertaining. It's a
mish mash of a few stories. And it did lack charm, indeed.
Some of the scenes were quite Indiana Jonesish. Memory's a
bit vague, but apparently Spielberg bought the rights for
Tin Tin around the time Indiana Jones came out and that was
one of the reasons it was given to him, because of the
movie(s).

Opinions on the movie by Tin Tin fans.

The Ellipse/Nelvana adaptations were very faithful,
especially as far as the art goes. Obviously they had to cut
a lot to fit it into such short episodes. Now that was a
good reason to get up early on a Sunday morning.

I like "Leviathan" (2000AD).

Nemesis the Warlock is great. It's funny and whimsical, but
a serious allegory, critical of racism all at the same time.
I was lucky enough to read it young enough that the aliens
were the 'baddies' by default to my child-brain and then
re-reading it when I was older I saw the folly of my
prejudice. It made the experience all the richer and my
appreciation for it deeper.

Most of the Batman stuff that is regarded as classics I like
a lot.

Watchmen and V for Vendetta are great too.

I think my all time favourite has to be Neil Gaiman's
Sandman series. It's one of my favourite stories of any
media and has influenced my belief structure and the
characters from it sometimes appear in my dreams, which is
both amazing and apt.
