It's old bullshit really isn't it? Though lots of idiots take everything as gospel. There's often humour in the lyrics and the persona we see is almost always a fake one. It used to be fun but it's become really tedious. I remember in 1992 i used to think all my favourite rappers were the toughest men around. I look at them today and it's rather amusing to see how boringly normal they are. As for women. I don't think it's about saying they're hollow idiotic holes to hurt and use. It's more of a show off thing. The "i've got a yacht, all the coke i want and i'm fucking your wife. come near me and i'll end your life" kind of rubbish isn't make believe. Ludacris is a one minute man. Then of course you have extremely smart musicians and lyricists out there. We shouldn't forget rap culture started off with a peaceful aim. Shame it's become an upside down iceberg. Only the small part is underwater and it's generally all the best stuff. |
