New Aphex Twin music

Yup, sittin' on ol' Richie Boy's HD.
It exists.
It's real.
It's there.

Will we ever get to listen to the best new stuff? Nope!
Because Aphex Twin only cares about himself. He's a selfish
man who only loves himself and worships himself. That's life
folks!

We give him so much money and make him rich, yet he gives no
fucks about us fans. NO FUCKS FOR US. Thanks Mr Aphex Twin.

Dave Monolith sounds like The Tuss so in conclusion James
released as Aphex on Warp but as DJ conflated identity on
Rephlex record. EDMX is pro bably just him to so stop
front.

I think a lot of the problem is a mix of vanity,
perfectionism and hesitancy or maybe just lazy complacency.
The more Richard puts off releasing something substantial,
the higher everyone's expectations are going to be. And he
seems to just keep copping out by releasing under secret
aliases or only putting out relatively minor, short
releases. I guess I understand the whole alias thing because
he just wants people to judge the music he makes on its own
merit, or he is constantly exploring these different sorts
of sounds and he feels they don't fit under a single
umbrella or whatever.
Another factor would be the whole piracy issue. I see
Richard as someone who reaches out to a large audience who
aren't necessarily obsessed with electronic music. These
people are probably less likely to go see him live because
they don't really see it as an actual "performance". So in
effect you get tons of people listening to his music, most
pirating it, and a relatively small amount seeing him live.
So he tries to sort of milk it and play exclusive shit live
so people will be interested. I think he needs to release
some music to generate interest though.
Some things such as releasing Analord only on vinyl
initially and using song titles that would cause antivirus
software detection, make me think that he's a little more
pissed off about piracy than the average musician. I
understand that the album was analog every blah blah, but it
doesn't make sense for someone like him to be
technology-resistant.
The whole vinyl-only thing and virus titles thing sort of
just reflects Richard's purist attitudes and possibly his
patented troll nature, which has died down with age. This
may not be the best however, because back when he was
"trolling" the public, we were at least engaged.

The alias thing doesn't work though because everyone knows
it's him, even the ones that aren't.

All this speculation as to his motivation is a waste of time
as well. You can chat to him on this board under one or two
stupid aliases and realise he's a manchild and that'll he'll
never do a 'serious' release again and move on happy with
your life.

i agree with idle interloper regarding him keeping the good
stuff unreleased so people will come to his gigs. he can get
paid $100k for an appearance, without worrying about piracy.
i feel somewhat miffed as a fan, though. i'd probably not be
so upset if i were actually able to make it to his gigs
without paying $$$ and dealing with an international
airflight. he probably feels the same about playing in the
US as i do about leaving it. but, christ, it's been years.
release that "manchester track" that everyone blathers
about. i've stopped watching gig youtubes because the sound
is always shit and there are drunk neckbeards yelling.

he mentioned having some crazy automated electro-acoustic
stuff going on, but that "polynomials" orchestra thing (the
one with the shining intro music) left me distinctly
underwhelmed. it was too hippie-dippy haphazard. like those
twats that do "graphical scores" and it comes out sounding
like an orchestra tuning up.... i still hope he'll do
something like "nanou" with automated woodblocks and music
boxen, but this was not a good start.

always wondered if the tuss was never officially
acknowledged as aphex for legal reasons -- warner in the US
claiming they owned the aphex name, allegations about an
acrimonious divorce (he mentioned it in some interview).

i was obsessed with aphex for ages, but i've begun to move
on. if he doesn't care about this, neither should i.
honestly, with the internet, i always have a massive backlog
of new stuff to listen to... am seldom bored.

have u thought about why one would want to release their
music publically.. for cash? for acclaim or acceptance? to
try and have an affect on evolution? to try and make people
happy? etc etc. there must come a time when you've ticked
all those boxes, and at this time when the reward is so
commonly forum criticism or misunderstanding or
disappointing sales compared to quantity possesing your
music, or a risk of unchecking those boxes, why not just do
what you do privately for yourself and your people. music is
a usually a very self-centred thing after all.

Actually I don't really care
Everyone's copying Drexciya and Analord
And even the copies are pretty good these days
So I don't give a fuck

If Aphex Twin came out with a complex & fresh new album
everybody would copy it with lame copies. It's funny. If
Aphex Twin stays away the majority of music will be good. If
Aphx Twin returns then the majority of new electronic music
will be shit.

have u thought about why one would not want to release
their
music publically.. laziness? being stoned all the time?
because of midget porn addiction? etc etc. there must come a
time when you've ticked all those boxes, and at this time
when the punishment is so commonly forum criticism or
misunderstanding. why not just do what you obviously should?
admit that you love to be a lazy, drugged out midget porn
addict, and shut down your sorry excuse for a website for
good. it´s better to burn out than to fade awy.
