poland was a very prospering and dynamic country which
easily might have dominated most of europe to this day.

then they invented vodka.

1. Some Polish ruler invites the Teutonic Knights to help
with christianisation of the north-eastern regions of, then
quite amorphous, Poland.
2. Rape, pillage occurs until heathens accept Christ our
Lord.
3. Teutonic Knights decide to keeep the territory for
themselves.
4. Long between the knights and Poland, finally lost by the
order.
5. Nobody dares to drive the knights out, because obviously
God wanted the territory to stay with his servants. It
becomes East Prussia.
6. XX century: Hitler demands establishment of an
exterritorial passage from German mainland to East Prussia
and the lack of cooperation from Poland on this front is
cited as one of the official reasons (pretexts rather) for
the IIWW.
7. After the war East Prussia is divided between Poland and
the Soviet Union. The German population is almost completely
expelled over the next couple of years.
8. After the break-up of the Soviet Union the part which
belonged to USSR becomes a part of Russian Federation (I
don't think Lithuania even tried to claim it).

This is the version I know.

As far as the general questions go:
1. Many kings, all handsome and righteous.
2. No pogroms, none whatsoever
3. German what?
4. ditto

One time there was some polish people called poles
people didn't much care about them
then they made polish sausage
people paid a tiny bit of attention to polish sausages I
guess
The end
