i love it. i loved it since i saw those first movies from
footwork battles on walacam. but after some time i got bored
with most of the tracks sounding very similar + without the
dancing it makes much less sense. for the same reason i
doubted that it will become mainstream. that is before i saw
the first releases on planet-mu.

now i really rediscovered footwork as highly renowned
producers try their own apporaches at it with often goofy
but interesting results. actually it's kind of funny that
this is already called "post footwork"

i dont really connect it to the scene. i dont really follow
the dancing even tho its rad. i just think this approach to
music is really interesting. the loops and repetition make
your mind fly not just your feet. its better than anything
with a penetrative hard snare/kick rhythm cos you dont fly
on that. i cant explain it yet. it just feels like real
music.
i dont really dig a lot of it, i just want to recreate that
'flight' thing.

here is my best foot trax imo

also i really need to explain that the tape, lofi, edited in
audacity kind of sound i have is intentional, but a lot of
folks dont dig that. perhaps if you kno its intentional,
youll think its cool.

i like "dog"

i'm having a lot of problems with making jukeish sounding
beats. but i actually stoped trying some while ago being
true to my idm roots and stirring stuff up a bit.

i love footwork for the very fact you aren't really forced
to make whole "songs" with buildups and intro and outro but
you can just fool around with a certain sounding loop for a
minute and the drop the next one.

offline AMPI MAX from United Kingdom on 2011-11-28 19:33 [#02424394]
Points: 10789 Status: Regular

its actually really really hard to get the footwork thing
right. it's sort of beyond the technicality thats been a big
staple of electronic music's attitude for the last decade.
it's more down to a sort of magic. that's why im always lofi
i think it's good to know the technical then forget the
technical.

i'm never going to make juke. this ones a bit more what im
eventually going to end up doing. but this still jukes hard

shiat that is one insanely good track.

maybe sidechain that hiss mount kimbie style ?

as much as i love hiss (basic channel fanboi) playing this
in a venue would be pretty weird.

I like those tracks you shared, really really good, the
percussion in the opening bars of splashy remind me somewhat
of the maestro rhythm king, v. cool.

Flight Real is my favourite i think, just a great track.

agreed, i know it's far from similar sounding but the magic
thing reminds me of perfectly swung 2-step drums, there's no
real recipe for making them work properly. liking yr tracks

Here are samples from my incomplete album Z7 from 2009~2010,
partly inspired by actually watching tons of footwork vids
(pre-mu-releases, pre-bandwagon, etc. etc.). Even if I
finish this album in a few years, it'll still be the best
footwork inspired album. HA! Enjoy ze clipz, mofoz:
