This dude (aphex twin) might be onto something.. ditch the rat race and live in a van for very little money instead of a house (naturally its technically illegal in many places since elites want you in the system or in jail, but maybe not enforced much). He has a solar panel/rv battery and inverter to get basically free electrical outlets too.
This 'van dwelling' is becoming a new meme, example: http://freesleeping.blogspot.com I'm always wary of new memes.. maybe this is controlled viral propaganda to make it seem cool for people to be poor or something to turn the whole world into china slave labor, yeah.

Laws are for sale to lobbying corporations, some of which have a vested interest in unnecessarily expensive houses. And the elite socio-psychopath eugenicists like the lizard people and the Inhumanoids want everyone 'on the grid' cuz they're easier to round up for extermination that way, isn't you know?

You know what your problem is there, is Free Enterprise is injecting many dollar bills up Mike Antonovich's cavernous money hungry rectum in return for sweet property deals. But of course reason.tv is spinning it as a Big Government problem instead of a privilege of the wealthy and powerful problem because they are illogical simpering libertarian cunnies.

I met a dude in Joshua Tree who used to live in a van in national parks or something like that. Had solar power, laptop and camera for video editing work, cheap food, yay.
Nothing wrong with living in a house on wheels!

I'll be doing this for a bit next year in Tasmania. Compared to living off the back of a motorcycle and sleeping stealth camping (IE illegally) in a bivvy, van living is luxury.

Some suggest a cargo van which is big and blends in easy cuz it looks like a random work vehicle, gets low mpg though. Some minivans get 20ish mpg, probably same for truck w/ shell but that's smaller. If it dies you can sell for scrap metal.
bathing: you could get a gym membership or use a spraybottle/handiwipes/sponge and take a sponge bath
electricity: put solar on roof and use a 'deep cycle marine batteries' whatever that is.
shit in a plastic bag lined bucket and put kitty litter or sawdust on it and throw it away at walmart or something.
laundry in 5 gal bucket with gamma lid.
park on street near apartment complexes maybe cuz random vehicles out there (for stealth) but always move to new spot before entering/exiting.
use hammock maybe, luggable loo, mini vacuum
internet: public wifi hotspots. Security people warn to use a 'vpn' here if you do banking etc. to avoid sniffers and firesheep etc, but that costs money. maybe use 'https everywhere' or torbutton
I think I might try living in a van... when I get money to buy one... if... Most big cities its illegal i think, so stay in suburban places and park 1 block away each night to save gas and be stealthy, maybe find a route and keep repeating it, go to library or something for internet.. make money on craigslist or something since ebay's evil now.. then just play videogames all day with no rent (not sure how long solar power could last in a van for games etc), eat rice & beans mostly = cheap, hmm.. drive wherever the hell you want.. few places like tucson its legal to live in van maybe.

One of my mates has a white van (DIY) converted to a camper. It looks just like a normal white transit from the outside. Inside, it's not plush, but it has everything other than a toilet. The decor is a bit spartan compared to a "proper" camper van in terms of the aesthetics, but it works just as well. He even has a canopy that can be pulled out when the side door is open.
Two other friends just sleep in the back of their Defenders.
Set of these, used to span the "benches" in the back. You can leave all the other gear on the floor under it whilst sleeping. Just use a thin rollable mattress on top, or if space is at a premium, a Thermarest.
Defenders look less "out of place" in countryside areas than a white van too.

choose whichever scenario gives you better perspective on the world or the human race as a whole as you or/and your brain ages (all participating through your onboard sensors of which have been proven to be most easily compromised)- but at least be fair to the understandment that such economic environments that so many wish to escape provide and encouraged the continual development of such objects that one requires to complete such a goal - ... the van wasn't developed out of thin air nor - the 'solar panels' that would such be required to perform such escaping 'sustainment'.
you can never count out the most basic human nature to be fidderent, and that includes being 'poor'. - i do not know what it was like to live of my grandparents time period - but cherry picking existing technological advances to perpetuate an emulation of such a time period is does most certainly not stand on its own merits.. no ?

Thought I'd post some ramblings in the old timers thread.
Somehow subverting society by living on a boat is more poetic than living in a van. I suppose there is less gas involved in operating a sail boat.
Seems that homelessness is a key subject in the new zeitgeist.
Honestly I never wanted a house and all the trappings of raking the leaves and fixing the gutters.
I never considered a house a good investment. Was an obvious pyramid scheme quite honestly. Hurry up and convert ten grand into 350 thousand in under a decade. Suppose it worked for some ordinary folks.
The new zeitgeist seems to support the notion of investment being cool. Is the dream to start a tech company and social network to to find seed money. Web 2.0 is still controlled by the banks. Maybe not wall street but the fancy venture funds no one has heard of.
the underpinnings of society and even human nature have been investigated. The Buddhists living in Cambodia practiced non violence and form of non action until the
Khmer rouge came along. Suppose that why non action evolved into lighting oneself on fire.

my friend and his wife are doing this (living in van) atm. 'avoiding' about 20 grands worth of debt,
its kinda ironic (and they realise it) that the fucked up economic situation they are in part attempting to get away from is one they partly help to fuck up themselves. but i do think its quite a nice escapist, romantic idea aswell.

Everyplace has its own system; each of those places' systems resulting from the balance of the vibes of the people and the vibes of the land. So even Antarctica has its system-- so free and pure and so much liiiterally untouched by hand or even mind of asshole- yet SO COLD. So USA or UK, etc., lotta cool shit, you get to go on your hologram bikes and fly under skirts to see panties and shit, but then you have to have some dude kick you in the dick every now and then, who wishes he had steroid muscles.
So "running away", "idealism", etc.... Nawh, mangz-- it is running TOWARD what you want (world is fucking huge), to create the idealism which you have in your heart. There is a place to be awesome and happy where everyone wins-- the point I'm trying to make is NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW-- get all your fucking cash, say sorry to the people you fucked, forgive the people who fucked your arse, workout, do some stretching, eat healthy, and leave your shit fucking country (unless you love it so much without complains being the dominant background music).
As long as you're decent, nobody is going to stop you from being the coke lord with fai tauzan ho bags around, or the local fisherman who has infinite cheap ganj. THE PROBLEM CAN BE, that such a physical manifestation of your heart and sincere self is not possible in your specific location. So if you have tons of complains about your country/living-area, LISTEN TO THAT SENSE, and use your ultimate courage AND LEAVE. There are yet-to-be-located people wishing you were around to make their lives better in a way that you can easily provide. In return, your life will be awesome. Go find them.
--and I type this shit, because I want everyone to wake up and run after the true happiness that is waiting for them; the new context that cannot be imagined from present, once it fully manifests.

a friend of mine has the same setup. He loves DIY solar and set up his hand built camper and now basically bums around. I find the whole DIY solar movement fascinating. I started researching it a bit at Sun Power and its pretty interesting. I personally dont have the balls to abandon my comfortable city life though

Yeah, cracks me up these people who try and frame the financial institutions as responsible for their own debt. Your friends and people like them are as much to blame as "the bankers" for the current situation.
It doesn't just have to be due to insolvency. I know plenty of people who willingly enter into protracted periods of homelessness. Many work for a period of time, saving, then go and travel till the money runs out, then lather, rinse, repeat. I don't see that as "running away" or irresponsible. They're still contributing to society during the times when they're working.

Man: Coming soon to the Los Santos Convention Center- it’s Mike Andrews!
Mike: Understand that it’s okay to be poor! There need to be poor people! We rich are the yin. You are the yang! We need you!
Man: He’s changed millions of lives with his book, ‘Rags are Riches.’ Now hear Mike Andrews live!
Man 2: Mr. Andrews? I, I’ve been having a run of bad luck, and I was wondering if the state could help me get back on my feet.
Mike: This is the kind of negative, obsessed, and greedy talk that doesn’t help anyone. My program will teach you a new outlook on life. Instead of complaining about being poor, enjoy it! Watch TV! Don’t vote! Who cares?
Man 2: But I’m homeless!
Mike: You’ve got it all wrong! Society doesn’t owe you anything! The government has better things to worry about. Like killing innocent people!
You already have everything you need, so enjoy your life!
Man: See Mike Andrews live for only two hundred dollars, payable in ten installments! Reserve your seat today!
