is any of these avant garde collaborations going to be
released? ive got a feeling that warp have something
interesting up their sleeve, which would make a change for
once.

its one of those ideas that sounds nice on paper, but i dont
hold my breath for it to be good or for that matter even
work. despite enjoying a lot of those artists, reich is
simply a better composer. blah.

those are all really respectable artists, it's quite funny
seeing tom verlaine involved in this vs the other crowd. too
bad the only documentation of the event for those not going
will be some half assed iphone recording.

this video more interesting, light and sound and concept

"Aphex played in the second part as the break was needed to
prepare all the stuff for it. First was a piece of music
based on pendulum music. In basics Reich first introduced a
concept of microphone as a pendulum in front of the speaker
(mentioning he came on this idea in mid 60s). Then he said,
that usually there are like 3 microphones, but tonight it
will be like 14. And so it was. There were 7 pendulum
stands, each holding 2 disco balls (the ones with reflective
surfaces), and each of them with microphone, hanging over a
large speaker. Lasers were put onto them, giving lots of
reflections all over, and the balls were set to swing. And
the music started. Kind to hard to explain it - it was not
totally random initially, so i doubt it was all coming from
these microphones. Aphex was standing behind the swings,
doing some of his stuff, but just standing, fully visible,
not hiding behind his laptop, etc. It was rather a pleasant
experience, kind of SAW, lots of bass eventually, and these
lasers reflected from the balls, just wow. It lasted like
10-12minutes"
