2001 for action/sci-fi?

i'm using it as a genre itself, not one of the other. (also,
that kinda disqualifies alien.)

2001 is a definite #1 for all time tho.

i couldnt choose,
but i throw in starwars, total recall & predator into the
discussion to see your views on it.
maybe id give aliens (lots a them motherfuckers
& practically no unrealistic lenghty suspense cuts)
and predator a favour. i just dig monsters from outer
space.
wouldnt wanna miss the others though.

i also would like to hijack this thread and let people name
some rather unknown ones, cause i dont find any good ones
anymore :(

blade runner is soooo not an action movie. neither is star
wars, that's adventure.

starship troopers is great tho, and owes a lot to aliens.
and ww2 propaganda :P total recall rules as well, but i
think both of those reside a bit too much in the campy end
to qualify for me.
