it's not an instrument, so when the developers and various news sites keep describing it as an instrument, it doesn't get a lot of love

Eigenharp is not really an instrument. A MIDI style controller more like. I really wanted a decent video of a Synclavier but alas couldn't find any which I found interesting, so Eigenharp it was...
Eigenharp is very expensive, you could buy a Synthi A instead :-)
As far as I can tell, eigenharp is: breath controller, step seq, ribbon control, 3D "buttons".
Although I haven't seen the 3D button type thing before, the rest most definitely exist. It doesn't look intuitive AT ALL. I suspect you need to have a load of stuff programmed up for it on the computer.
They also missed a trick, because it looks like you cannot place it on a table and play it like one of those indian things (can't for the life of me rememeber the name) whilst using the breath control.

it looks like it could be a laugh to play about with, yeah. but touting it as an instrument isn't really true.
and starting at almost £4000 for a MIDI controller and softsynth package is a bit much really

This puts it at $1,000 - $10,000, and I found this for $3,600. Quite a slice for some music history.

Good videos.
An incredible sampler with 28 megabytes or more of memory!
the fairlight is such a beast though, the infrared pen selection on the screen must have been been really a mad thing to do in 70s
