Why the flying fukuck is everyone in love with this group.
I mean, I'm not hating on them, they're okay, but
Merriweather Post Pavilion is on every 'top 2009 albums'
list and I can't wrap my ugly face around it :\

Cancer is awful, not some fucking music. You hating it
doesn't mean it's awful.

i don't know one person who actually listens to them, also

yes, here in the states where hipster rock mixed with
electronics thrives, animal collective is mentioned quite
often irl.

i like them pretty ok tho. some of it better than others.

I guess some people have never had something awful happen
to them. The only awful things are bad films and sucky music
i suppose! ;P

I best get my coat!

: ). Thanks btw, for some reason this thread made me put on
Anima by ol' vlad delay. Hadn't put it on in years and
years. Goes well with a little smoke and whisky.

grow beyond this...

Does music even have to have value anymore, isn't it enough
to have a "cool" name and to record the sound of a guitar
and a drum machine falling down the stairs? Does anyone
actually need music? Or rather just a new badge with a cool
band name and logo on it? 33% electro, 33% guitars, the rest
laconic vocals. X REPEAT

i know, i'm sorry
i'm having more and more trouble with what's being labeled
as indie rock these days
they're fine, really, it's not even about the music or the
persons behind it
it's just that i built this little narrative in my head and
some bands seem authoritative to me, because of the way
they've been put under the spotlight etc, and it terrifies
me
same thing with justice
it's all a bit silly

i didn't mean to insult anyone, certainly not anyone who
likes the band

Nah, it's Lorraine Chase, doing an admittedly "Heroes" style
Bowie pose.

I'd like to think it's possible to be completely indifferent
to any music which I don't like because it gets quite
exhausting getting personally offended by certain music;
when really our own projection of the band's intentions or
personalities don't amount to anything. Of course then you
have certain stuff which is fun to hate, for me that would
be things like Scooter, Blackout Crew or the Black Eyes
Peas. So the whole thing is a complete mess, really. Fuck
sentience.

I love Animal Collective. I think they are the most
important and relevant band in the world right now. But I'm
a 32 year old who lives in a small studio apartment a cat;
so I may not exactly have my finger on the pulse of what's
going on.

when will all this crap people put on top of music be gone
and people will start listening to muisc they LIKE

why must we always draw paralells to society, a group, their
agenda, artists.. why make it so complex?
i dont like people who listen to music just to fit in or
look cool either

ask yourself why you're asking a group of strangers to
explain to you why you don't like everything that everybody
else likes.

I don't like it because it's bad music. There's nothing to
not get.

Snotsters enjoy hearing talentless, lazy oafs being
"creative" because it's democratic. It feeds their fantasy
that someday they too will be modestly famous for having a
beard and choosing a clever t shirt.
