I have never had one, I find that when i mix my track down it sounds good on my monitors, but when i play in my car it seems like it's missing allot of bottom end. I was just wondering if you use one?
and how to I connect one, does the signal go to he sub then to the monitors?
thanks

i think if you use monitors + subs you need a crossover to separate signal bands, isnt it?

my Alp 5s are 53hZ TO 20kHz so I deffenetly need some low end, if your right malack the frequency for the sub will cut off at 53Hz
hmm can someone tell me if this is right?

i have never made tunes with a sub present. you'd have to sort out a way of making sure it was evened out with the monitors right. i dont know, i can see myself turning it up really loud just for the thump and then i go and listen to it on some other speakers and being shat on by BBBFBFFPFFUFFMFMMFMFBMMBMBMMFMBMBMBMFBMBMBMFFFFFFFMMMMM

from what i have been reading today, the sub needs to be futher back from you than your main monitors, and adjusted accordingly. the sub I am looking at has a pedal switch, so you can turn it off when it's not needed

interesting, well I think it's worth mentioning because if you can't monitor these lower frequencies when someone plays your track with a big bass sub in there boot, you might have some messy stuff going on.
or am i missing something here? it would seem most people don't need one.

if you really want some low-end then buy a dedicated subwoofer for your monitors. in your case the event s100

well you can always avoid extra/unwanted stuff you might not hear on your monitors by doing a cutoff. software eq's are great for that

yeah, but then again if it isnt so messy then on bigger systems with deep bass the track might seem a little thin if compared to other tracks..
i dont tend to cut off any frequencies like that, i let the mastering guy do it for my cd releases, and for all the other things i havent gotten any complaints yet..
