Just noticed there are two recent albums by FSOL, haven't
heard much about them and did a search and didn't come up
with anything. I'm a massive fan of Lifeforms, how do these
sound compared to that?

it's apparently based largely on old material (dating back
to 1994) - they've released TONS of that lately - so expect
groovy 90's psychedelic techno... haven't heard any of it,
though.

The second volume of Environments is new stuff and has
contributions from the likes of Max Richter. This stuff has
been really under the radar in terms of general exposure but
Environments 2 is very decent.

I'm a massive fan of Lifeforms as well. Environments II
totally got me hooked again after some dissapointing
releases under their Amorphous Androgynous monicker.

nice one, good to hear... just ordered vol 2

is that one better than vol 1? What are the differences
between the two volumes?

also anyone know if FSOL are working on a new album?

E1 has a lot of old material and samples. It's kind of like
a shitty versions of Lifeforms, but more droney.

E2 is supposedly older material but re-produced and
re-edited with some newer material. It's really nice and
totally creams the first volume. I wouldn't be surprised if
the new FSOL (if it ever surfaces) sounds quite similar to
this style of production.

Aye, I second Brisk. E2 > E1. E2 != Lifeforms.

The recent Amorphous Androgynous wasn't very good was it?

I made the right purchase then, looking forward to hearing
it!
