From the Steinvord album, Aphex at his best. Anyone agree?

It's not AFX

Sounds very similar. But then again, could be anyone.

The question is if its not him who is it? If anyone can
answer then fair play.... put your money where your mouth is
though! IMO its AFX albeit from 12 years ago (still sounds
fresh though)...

Tracks on the myspace page are fucking nice though

Notice how all the untitled ones sound like AFX? The rest
maybe early Squarepusher?

Apart from the one simply titled 'untitled'

Why not a fan of AFX and Squarepusher making copycats?
That's one way to learn, lots and lots of people start that
way by copying the masters.

Whoever it is, it certainly has a good sound. :)

It aint a copy - you can smell a copy from a mile. Also, if
it was a copy someone would be able to say who its by (which
anyone has yet to do).

Prove that it is AFX, then you won't need me to prove it...

-exactly.

not AFX. Some guy from Barcelona, Spain

supposedly.

If you think Steinvord is RDJ, then maybe This is
him too.

yes I do think Lowenek is him too, Lowenek is a Cornish
word... who do you think it is? name one person you think it
is...

haven't listened to any of this steinvord stuff yet but it
wouldn't exactly be a suprise if somebody just cleaned up an
obscure old live track or 2 in half an hour and set it free
as new afx on you gullible dicks

*looks meaningfully at dobbin*

offline Exaph from United Kingdom on 2009-01-21 17:24 [#02266817]

and Lowenek ?

Wisp is a contender for most of the Steinvord tracks I
agree, but the untitled ones with numbers in sound totally
different as does Lowenek

offline BeatenDownCar on 2009-01-21 17:27 [#02266818]
Points: 81 Status: Lurker

I don't know, some other new guy no one cares to welcome
yet. I don't even really think it's Wisp, but the Wisp
approach seems more likely. Has anyone else wondered why the
Rephlex site has meant nothing lately?

Gullible maybe but not deaf, also you overlooked the fact
that most of us geeks have the unreleased AFX songs culled
from live sets, anyway if you heard untitled 97 you wouldnt
say that, is incredibly well mastered IMO, like RDJs more
polished stuff

In fact I cant believe I havent said this already but the
synths and drums are the giveaway. And the magic is there
too.

Dunno, even early AFX has much more interesting synth
patches, some of those sounds are very preset'y and plain.

12 years later?

This one sounds like there's sampled bits from the track Go
Plastic.

There's more on the channel that aren't on myspace.

probably because they arent by steinvord, rather aphex. like
the lowenek one.

If you use file2HD on the myspace you'll get extra tracks.

its so different from most of the other steinvord tracks
which is whats bizarre, if its not aphex i will eat my hat.

I know this is going to get really confusing but the orignal
steinvord myspace isnt that one - see the thread by suzy
called afx is not steinvord, suzy posts 2 myspace links
including the lowenek one which is also blatentley afx imo.

someone mentioned vsnares. somehow maelstrom and ontrack v2
reminds me of just him..

iyff acid edit on the other hand.. very hot. whoever made
it. and untitled 9.

offline Exaph from United Kingdom on 2009-01-21 18:09 [#02266857]

you can hear half of analord in untitled 11!

offline Exaph from United Kingdom on 2009-01-21 18:14 [#02266859]
Points: 3718 Status: Lurker

well theres no doubt in my mind that 9,11 and 97 are by
Aphex, 9 and 11 sound like analord off cuts, esp 11 and 97
is probably from 1997. the equipment used and the fact they
are untitled when all the others arent are a giveaway IMO.

I don't think it's aphex, it is mastered in a completely
different way, but of course i know what you're going to
say; Rich is just changing his ways to make it sound a bit
different, but no, i don't think someone can avoid their own
taste in sound quality that easy.

By the way, do you lot like steinvord's music because of
what it sounds like, or plainly because it sounds like aphex
twin?

only 3 tracks are by aphex the rest sound nothing like. so
you think untitled 9, 11 and 97 are mastered in a
compeletely different way to aphex's is other stuff?
admitedlly not as professional maybe or something but thats
probably because they werent intended for release,
nevertheless the mp3s sound very loud to me.

i still suspect that canadian guy to have something to do
with this. untilited 11 sounds very much like it's put
together with a tracker. quite insane track nevertheless.

Hmmm the only problem i have with that theory is that its
better than anything he's ever released so why give it away
for free? The other steinvord tracks do sound Venetian
Snares like though; the overused amen break is the giveaway
there..
