March 28, 2002 @ Warsaw - Brooklyn, NY.

Mira calix (here), who played for thrice as long
as Plaid, played some interesting beats but then some pretty
boring repetitive shit for at least 20 minutes, she spun
Music Is Math, and everyone cheered and danced, that was fun
as hell.

Nobukazura Takemu (here) played some really wierd
shit, some of which was totally unlistenable and avante gard
and everyone was pretty much just standing and looking at
his wierd visuals (here and here). It
became kind of interesting towards the end, but then he did
a little japenese bow to everyone and left. Everyone
cheered, but I think it was more in anticipation of plaid
rather than for Nobu.

Mira Played some more, left, and plaid came out.

Plaid (here) fucking kick-ass. I don't really
know what else to say. They really compensated for the
mediocrity of the show up until that point. Plaid opened up
with the amazing first track from their new P-Brane EP, I
couldn't really dance, just float back and forth, it was so
beautiful. After that they basically just ripped everything
up with really intense beats, mostly stuff from Double
Figure mixed & remixed. and everyone was dancing or at least
nodding their heads up and down. They played this fucking
awesome version of New Family from double figure, it was
amazing, everyone had their eyes closed and were silent and
listening. They showed an amazing visual during that one,
with like text of symptoms of depression, and then showing a
city street in time-elapse fast forward. So it was like,
"Do you have trouble sleeping", and you'd see 10,000 people
get in and out of a subway car, I can't really explain it,
but it was really powerful with that track.

Then they played some other crazy skitterish background
beats with solid beats layered on top which made everyone go
wild again. Plaid had some insane visuals as well
(here and here). They also had this
wierd robotic arm with 4 cameras on it that moved back and
forth by itself over each of them and what they were doing
with their hands, it like blended the two images together or
put them on split screen instantaneously on the screen
(here and here).

Plaid left the stage, everyone cheered for a good five
minutes, they (here) came back and did an encore
of a brilliant track I had never heard before. And that one
had the most insane visual of all, it had a UFO or something
with the sky somehow circling it, and then this wierd robot
kept superimposing himself over the image bigger and bigger.
That doesn't explain it at all actually, just click
(here)

After Plaid Keith Tenniswood (here, notice the
crowd walking away after plaid) one of the Two Lone
Swordsmen came out and played some real smooth track, which
slowly degraded into house, which slowly degraded into
something with the vocals "I love it when your booty shake,
uh-huh, uh-huh" at which point we promptly left.

It was a pain in the ass to write this up, hope you enjoyed
it! Long live the aphextwin.nu community ;) -- Xtos.

the video you speak of that has the dome building, rotating
sky and fade-in Ultraman type guys is what usually
accompanies "Zala". have seen them switch videos w/ stuff
before though. the "Ooh Be Do" video [video of many birds in
the sky] was used for an unreleased track/or P-Brane track
in LA.

digital messiah: no, not really sorry, /plaid/ will be
unauthorized.

SPD: thanks for the info I was wondering what those were. I
know they played all four P-Brane tracks and I think Zala
was the one with the rotating sky.

nobukazu takemura shoulda played stuff like "sign" or
"animal show".

not that i think his noisy stuff is bad per se (scope is
awesome), but in a live setting i think it would be
completely boring really.

To whoever bumped this old thread back up:
I didn't pay the bill for my webhost and after a few months
they deleted all of my content! I don't even have these pix
anymore =(!

However I did see Plaid again last month and I took lots of
pix (with a much better digital camera) and that's up on the
gallery:

here, enjoy!
