I appreciate the sentiment, but some of these are really
quite recent and are still in shops, so its a bit out of
order.
Like Rodulate for example, definitely worth spending the
cash. Some of them are harder to get though..... as Rephlex
would say...

if you like the music buy an original copy (or words to that
effect)

i own most of these copies, anyways. ... as should you.
most are on vinyl, and i'd much rather trust a cd rip-->
flac than my own vinyl rip --> flac.

so i download those as well. .. and sometimes share.
anyone can download these if they want; you know who you are
if you like them you will purchase.

*anyone can download these if they want (from an online
app), they wouldn't be waiting for me to post them before
downloading. if they wanted they could find anywhere.

i only purchase vinyl (no cds). as a result, they are
rarely played unless the mood is right. so i download flac
cd-rips to complement listening on my computer, as well.

All xlt threads are indexed onto google though. This is
basically easy pickings for anyone to just type in "x flac"
and find a link.

Old releases which are out of print = no problem. Giving
public links to music which is still in the shops is wrong
in my opinion.

my entire music collection of the last 3 years consists
entirely of mp3's from the likes of soulseek and rapidshare
so i may sound like a bit of a hypocrite, however i dont
think you should be posting these links on xlt, this is
definitely not the site for sharing copyrighted music, let
other sites take the blame

...but phobbanobbs obviously doesn't give a toss since his
"insiders" stopped feeding him bullshit and incorrect
release dates, this would have been instant b8 a couple of
years ago. the google-indexing thing is less good but if
they're out of print it's fair game innit

1- the links (sendspace) will die after a few weeks. every
link will eventually become null. google caching will be
irrelevant
2- if people wanted these albums, they would have already
nabbed em from soulseek/et al. people will get anything
they want, stop trying to fight it
3- some people might already have these albums on mp3; pull
the flac down, hear the quality diff from their shit lossy
rips, decide, whoa, this is alright afterall, and maybe then
purchase a copy.

offline Brisk from selling smack at the orphanage on 2008-12-18 15:49 [#02259559]

mp3s, yes.

flacs are pretty much a way of saying "heres the album,
don't bother paying for it now cos this is the best quality
you're gonna get anyway"

i know a lot are vinyl and people will buy that format
regardless, but i still think this kinda thing should be
done away from message boards personally.

a lot of those artists visit this board too. not exactly the
nicest feeling knowing your music is getting pirated harder
than the gulf of aden.

ijonspeches, not all of us have good quality
deck/needles/etc to play our records on.

i buy the records even tho i only have a single table (just
play records, not mix), and i lost my counterweight.

my counterweight is made out of starbursts candy right now
(pics if requested).

don't really like playing the records too much until i get a
proper setup. don't want to be scratching the vinyls, or
anything.
