ok...
for windows i recommend paint shop pro, which comes w/
animation shop pro, to create animated gifs.

if you're slightly more experienced, Adobe Imageready is
great for creating animated gifs.

I used to have an animated GIF, but I changed my picture
with this lovely collage that I made a few years ago.
Unfortunately, you aren't able to see it in larger scale,
cause it is rather nice. At least I think so.

I forget what program I used to animate it with. If I had
access to my old puter I would be able to tell you. But I
found it for free on the net.

www.google.com
(type in) animated GIF freeware (then hit search)

Well it was found using google. It was the second or third
hit too.

I used the same one that x|r said the first time, I made it
(didn't steal it.) The program has potential, but is
probably a bit limited and simple. This is only the 2nd I've
made, so I don't know what it can really do. Actually I did
use some "effects" like "underwater", that's why it blobs
around and "colorchangomatico" to make the colors change,
but I designed the rest, it didn't really demonstrate out of
phase symmetry as I'd planned.
