It'd be a hell of a lot less scary than shooting yourself
in the head innit. And maybe relatively painless, I mean
considering alternatives.

no, don't do that

I spent years thinking that way........ things can change,
life can get better......

So even if you are thinking of doing it, please don't.......
please just hang on, because your life can become all that
you want it to....

I don't intend to do it (at this time at least). The
information could potentially save someone some pain.. I
mean if they choose to go down this road, this method might
be easier and less painful than jumping off the
golden gate bridge (hitting water at that speed = shattering
your bones that then pierce your vital organs... or maybe
you won't be 'successful', plus how long would it take your
brain to stop activating... Not that nature isn't full of
hyena eating the intestines of some poor animal while its
still alive.
But I'd research the hell out of it first (if you do it
wrong you can end up surviving only with brain damage
apparently). I'm not advocating anything, I guess I should
suggest don't kill yourself; I'm tired of having a negative
impact on people.

there was this couple, philosophers, who apparently
killed themselves. she was suffering illness and he
woulndt live on without her, so they just did it.

pretty nice idea, to pass on with that special one.

wMw, that monk was a fucking hero! he may not have led to
change, but he died as a martyr. I don't see how you can say
that's not a good way to die. Unless you only refer to the
method, without tinking about the reason for it.

ijonspehces, that is a really cool idea. They really must
have been devoted to each other. It'd be cool if you could
remember their names, so I could read about it in more
depth, though.

ok, browsed through the old newspapers...
they were Dorine and Andre Gorz.
the article mentions another couple who did this before.
Arthur (also a writer) and Cynthia Koestler.

Considering that as a comunity xltronic has had at least two
suicides. Can we not discuss this subject/erase threads. If
anyone is considering killing themselves there are people
out there who can help. I think what you are doing here is
irrasponsable and stupid.

I think it would be a good idea to have a perminant thread
with a list of peole who can help in such situations.

i dont see why we shouldnt be allowed to talk about suicide
here. everybody has the right to end his life, whether we
acknowledge their motives or not. i dont want this to be
stigmatised. and it is a serious thread.

It is certainly a sensitive subject, but this is a good form
of euthanasia, especially considering that it's illegal to
take your own life in most countries. No-one knows the full
circumstances of the xlt suicides, except for those who took
their lives. Ignoring suicide as a subject wont solve the
problem.

why die when you have so much to offer people? even if your
pretty talentless you could go help save lives abroad.
whatetver ,..ive thought about suicide before but how could
i when there is so much work to be done.?

about it being illegal...
if one fails at suicide, does one go to prison?
all the more reason to do it right the first time

you guys aren't allowed to talk about suicide. stop.

i'm going to suicide myself, then I'm going to suicide all
of you-- all for negging me out so bad.

*********

but seriously-- considering the population problem, the
ecocide, and the established idiocy of most human beings--
suicide is a solution.

apparently in the u.s. suicide is not illegal anymore
or it's considered a "common law crime"

if you decide to kill yourself, why not do it the stealthy
way, pre-write and post date many post cards, and pay an
agency to send one once a year to your family and friends,
then go off and kill yourself in a remote place, in a far
away land (make sure no one finds your body) that way you
protect your loved ones because they will think you are out
traveling, and sending post cards every now and then...
